The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

I can honestly say, having now spent a ridiculous number of hours on this game, that it is worthy of the 10's that you see posted here.
True, the graphics are not DX11, but I only care about one thing: is it fun.
The gameplay scales well, it is endlessly replayable, the graphics are varied and well done, and it is as in-depth a game as one might wish for without getting bogged down in pointless details (MOO3 anyone?).
This game evokes the quality and attention that USED to exist in games (SirTech, SSI, Black Isle... I'm talking about you). Clearly, this developer cared about their game and were not fettered by draconian publishers (Activision, Ubisoft, EA... I'm talking about you).
If you like grand-scale strategy and building massive armies to crush your foes, but don't mind learning through your failures, this game is for you.
A classic that blends the detail of older games with the accessibility of modern OS's.

The game has some quirks and extensive micromanagement that, if you learn to live with it, is a small price to pay for the depth of content and great community. Despite the many year since this game's development a quick google for multiplayer AARs will show you there are newbies and veterans alike still playing huge, epic multiplayer games.

My favourite game of all time. Extremely replayable and complex without being overfacing.

This game is the only game I've found where you can have 500 on 500 battles of roman legionaires versus the legions of hell.

Dominions is perhaps the best MP strategy game I have ever played on a PC. I've had the game for 3 years now and it is still going strong on my hard drive, and not likely to be replaced.

Despite the simple (and sometimes ugly graphics) and (in the later half of the game) massive micromanagement, i have to say that this is by far the best turn based strategy game i've played on the pc. Both in terms of content and multiplayer goodness. :)

This is the most epic game ever made. I've been playing it for 5 years and new strategies and tactics emerge every time I play. Get into a big online game, use the wiki, and you'll love it forever.

Best turn based strategy game there is. Offers endless replayability due to the amazing depth and complexity of the game and the never ending modding projects that constantly add new content to the game (new mod nations, spells, etc.)
