The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

Serriously, we needs us a Dominions 4 as this game is as old as dirt, but it's still at the top of my all time favorite PC games.

Few things you may need for Dominions 4:

- RACE PLACEMENT!!! That random placement is driving me nuts! If you use a custom map, like Oeridia it really is just a pain. With Random Placement Bandar Log is placed in the caves, in the north lands, in anywhere but the jungle where they should start at. I know Oeridia is a custom map which isn't in vanila Domionions 3, but after 26 restarts, just to get the placement right, I would really like to just PLACE my race on the map instead of having a random generator do it, over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

- Time Travel: If I want an early start race in mid or late, maybe that might be something you could set up?

- Dwarves, just saying, we've got mods for these, but I'm really surprised not to see this in Dominions 3 vanila.

- Race placement can already be done with the map modding commands. Please consult the map modding manual for details, or alternatively ask in the mods section of the forum.

- There is also already a mod that allows the game to take place in "All Ages", meaning players can select from any nation from any era, and play them in the same game. Again please ask in the mods section of the forum for more details and links to the mod in question.

- Dominions nations tend to be based on mythology rather than fantasy. Which is also largely why you don't see Elven nations or Ogre nations etc. A Dwarf nation could be added to Dominions 3 vanilla, but it's very easy to add such a nation to the game via (user created) nation mods. As such most people in the community feel it is far more beneficial to the game and community for Illwinter to concentrate their time and efforts on improving and enhancing other aspects of the game, rather than using that time to add new nations. As the community can easily do that, but can't do a whole host of other "Illwinter only " things.

And as above, please ask in the mods section of the forum if you are looking for new nations to play, as there are a wide and every growing selection of user created nations to choose from.

Fine, I've tried to do placement 3 ways from friday, I've TRIED looking it up in the mod tools, I've tried looking up in forum sites, I've tried modding the game personally, I even tried looking up instruction manuals, if it really is easy, send me a link, I honestly need help desprately. (spent a several months trying to find something for that actually and I've owned the game for years and couldn't find anything concreate)

By the by, if your just defending mods, thats fine cute, but it's not really IN the actual game for some of the things I've suggested. Which, is in fact, the main issue, we shouldn't have to rely on mods or modders for some of these things in game. You also assume in your comments that I don't use mods, but I do, MYTHOLOGY is my personal favorite. The only reason why I suggested a dwarf race empire is because there is a dwarf in Dominions, (See Ulm Dwarf Blacksmith for reference.)

Why haven't you asked for help on the forum if you've been struggling for such a long time? And why have you still not asked for help on the forum even now? As that is the correct place to get help on something like this. I don't want to come across as being rude, and I apologise if I have, but I'm just struggling to understand why you are seeking help in the comments section rather than the dedicated forum. But since I am here now I guess I will answer your question.

Please consult the mapedit.pdf, section 2.5.3, as that explains how to use the #specstart command to specify exactly which province a specific nation will start in, and then edit the .map file accordingly. If you need further help with this then PLEASE can you ask on the forum.
.

The position I'm defending is that the community generally prefers Illwinter to spend their precious time doing important things like fixing bugs, adding mod commands, and generally improving the game. If Illwinter have lots of free time and decided to add new nations then that would certainly be a welcome surprise. But Illwinter only has so much time to work on Dominions, and the community would prefer that time not spent doing things the community can provide themselves. Such as creating new nations to play. As some jobs can be entrusted to the excellent community to do, while many other jobs can only be done by Illwinter, and given the choice it is those other jobs that the community would prefer Illwinter to concentrate on.

Of course you are certainly entitled to disagree with the general community on this, and that Illwinter should be concentrating on adding new nations. Although I doubt you have much chance of changing the community view on this. (as it has been the general view for quite some time now)

You can find some mods in the forum. You can find more of them at other sites, such as the old forums at Shrapnel Games or at Dom3Mods (which is referenced in the forum here).

I've waffled for years about buying Dominions 3, but with the change of publisher and accompanying price drop, I snatched it up.

The amount of variety in this game is excellent. While some more interface and AI work would be very welcome, I've not been disappointed. There's a lot here to enjoy.

The pixel art is wonderful, too!

I whole-heartedly agree.
Games like this get re-installed on my computers throughout the years. Most modern games I play for a few hours, have buyer's remorse, and unistall with contempt.
My only desire for your games would be A) an option to set up a "listen server" for multiplayer and B) a better UI. Please keep the same graphical "style", as it is both functional and (I think) timelessly classy. Too many companies push the 3D envelope and look dated when released, as it takes too long to complete the dev cycle.
Honestly, companies like yours (the Indies) are the only ones worth buying from these days. Keep up the good work!

It's awesome!

Hundreds of different units. Dozens of Nations to play.
A mind boggling amount of spells to cast.
Equip your summoned Angels, Deamons or other monsters with different items you have forged.
Sacrifice slaves to perform the most vile of magics: Blood magic.
Etc. etc.....

And all these options do not even include the hundreds of mods that have been made by the community.

If you like GRAND strategy games you should definitely check this out.
