The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

This game is easily worth the 30 dollars they are asking for. A few years back I bought this game for 60 bucks and I still play it on a regular basis because it has so much re-playability and depth. No other strategy game ive ever played compares to Dominions 3. There are still nations I have not yet tried in multiplayer games and I imagine il be enjoying this game for many years to come.

I've easily gotten hundreds of dollars worth of entertainment out of this game, thanks to multiplayer. Absolutely fantastic multiplayer strategy game. I'm afraid I can't recommend it for its singleplayer though.

Edit: Christ, Desura is just determined to mess with my posts. Shame there isn't a delete option.

About damned time. Still high for a game this old, but it is in the "We are taking advantage of customers having a limited number of options" rather than "We are idiots who think it is 10 years ago and we can still gouge the customers however we want", so kudos to the devs.

I agree with your statement, not with the rhetoric, though. Illwinter had nothing to do with pricing, that was the publisher. Sure, I DESPISE how they treat me as a customer (Having to pay to download it for a year? Are you kidding me?) but I wouldn't have put up with that and pulled my pants down if I didn't think I'd enjoy the hell out of the game. And I still do. That being said: They really ****** me off with their pricing and download schemes. It just felt like some 2001 gaming website where choice wasn't an option, and they just... Never moved away from it and got with the times. If they had, I gurantee you a Dominions 4 would be released, and would be front and center at 'Best games of the Indie revolution' already. They only hurt themselves, really.

Wow way to "drill" it home dude. For someone that has as much netcred as me, you seem much more egotistical to make such extreme interpretations.

Yeah, but its not on Desura yet, just google for a mirror. I bought Dom3 when it first was released in 2006 for $60, and its one of the best game purchases I've made. It was always $60 since release, since coming to Desura they've finally decided to lower the price.

It's awesome!

Hundreds of different units. Dozens of Nations to play.
A mind boggling amount of spells to cast.
Equip your summoned Angels, Deamons or other monsters with different items you have forged.
Sacrifice slaves to perform the most vile of magics: Blood magic.
Etc. etc.....

And all these options do not even include the hundreds of mods that have been made by the community.

If you like GRAND strategy games you should definitely check this out.
