The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

I hate to request something from somebody who has done so much for the community, but... here goes....

Would it be possible to code a search feature into the map browser?

For instance our group is looking for a wraparound map of 80-130 provinces with a low ratio of water to land. Yes, It's an odd map we are looking for, but I'll go through the browser map by map and....get distracted from my original goal.

Anyway....I don't know if anyone else would find such a feature useful, but I've longed for it several times.

The llamabeast map browser may not be the best location for such a thing. His maps fill up with dozens or even more custom single game maps. I know I've uploaded at least 10 versions of Elmokki's streamlands with custom start locations and special sites. It plugs up badly.

There are quite a lot of maps in that range. In fact Elmokki's streamlands may be just the right one. Try here: Dom3.servegame.com

Thinking about it more, it would be quite awesome to have a central map repository here rather than on llama.

Streamlands was high on our list of final candidates. It's a fine map.

At QT3 we're trying to create a LA game where Atlantis can play and NOT have the advantage of taking all the water provinces unopposed plus the mobility advantage of sailing...well, pretty much everyplace.

Oh hey dfs. Didn't realize it was you. Atlantis will likely die an early dom death on that map. The water is too spread out. It's REALLY hard to find a map for one water nation.

Doh. I missed the LA part. LA is different.

I've put a map list on Dom3mods. You may or may not find it useful. It is VERY basic right now, and does nothing more than list the wraparound maps in order of size, which was the limit of the functionality I required from a map list when I created it. I'll probably improve it when I get spare time to add pics etc (although this is the mythical version of spare time that seems to exist only in fairy tales, as I haven't seen any for a long while)

Thanks. % of water would be a nice addition.

There is probably a measure of connectivity that would be cool, but we would have to think about it.

Thanks for what's there.

Good luck with the spare time!

If you arent looking for anything too fancy I can always generate batches of maps for you to look at.
Randomized Maps

With some time (because I dont have the math knowledge to make this MapGen work easily) I can generate these which are even uglier but are playable and do have full wrapping
Smalls using ParadoxHarbinger's MapGen

Any color scheme you want, any number of land/water provs, percentages on terrain, hi-res or low-res, etc. They are all scripted so I can generate 100 for viewing, then if none meet your needs (or close enough to edit) then I can just generate another batch to view.

On good days depending on my status, some post-fixes are available also. Starts only if has X or more neighbors, adding caves, sepia filter (gives that parchment coloring that some like), named provinces, SemiRand to add special provinces like Faerun has, NI (no independents) or better yet PI (partial independents). Boosted AIs. Even Chaos if you want.

Complaining about lack of certain type of maps in places I read has resulted in me making maps before.

That's a really nice map and I'll look forward to using it.

Now that I, too, reread the thread, I do have to aknowledge that it's probably horrible for a game with LA Atlantis.

I imagine a perfect map would be one with a few lakes of 1-3 provinces that aren't connected by rivers that allow travel? Not that I can be arsed to draw more maps right now though.

Well, it's not what I was looking for, but it IS a nice map.

Very much enjoy several of your maps.

Actually this one isn't apparently in Calahan's index and may not be in llamaserver either. It would penalize LA Atlantis however because while it's guaranteed to get to sea because it always spawns on a shore, there are just three sea provinces. Z7.invisionfree.com

Not sure if you've seen it already though. It may also well contain bugs.

EDIT: ...or Indiedb.com !
