The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

I'd like to know whether blood hunting in a fortress province you own is considered a bad idea compared to in non-fortress provinces?I understand that it causes unrest, let's assume I don't need to recruit there or I won't let the unrest get too high anyway. I understand it costs population, and because of the math I only hunt in provinces with more than 5,000 people.I try to hunt in non-fortress provinces, but I'm not sure why... What's the math if all I care about is how much blood hunting costs me (price per slave:)) ? [And while I'm here, how the heck are you supposed to put blank lines/paragraphs when you post here? The above has lost them] |

Personally I don't really mind if it's a fort or non fort province. With 0 taxes and 6 blood levels hunting unrest is usually kept very low and stable. There might be a spike now and then, but unless you're super unlucky you'll be able to recruit from the fort. Normally I also build those cheap forts with horrible admin so fort/non fort income matters even less than normally. Edited by: Oscarius |

>>I usually stick to hunting 4k-7k pop provinces [...] Above that and it's starting to get expensive, below and it's not that effective. Could you explain how exactly "it's expensive if > 7k", please? I have thought it was great to b/h in province with as much pop as possible, is this (by any chance) because unrest increase costing more money than I had thought about? The penny might be beginning to drop... |

Well, blood hunting isn't really more effective once you've reached 5k pop. It doesn't matter if you're hunting in a 20k or 5k province, you'll get the same number of slaves if all other things are equal. That is why provinces around 5-6k is prime blood hunting material. Minimum gold loss with maximum efficiency. Like I mentioned, I normally drop taxes to stop unrest so I don't have to patrol. If you want to both get income and slaves from a province you really need to grab some patrollers. |

In a fortress gathering money from adjacent provinces, does the unrest level affect the income from these and from the fort province itself equally? |

A fortress doesn't gather money from adjacent provinces in dom3, only resources. As far as I know one province's unrest doesn't affect another province's income or resources in any way. Edited by: Oscarius |
