Distant Star: Revenant Fleet is a real-time, space-strategy game for PC, featuring fleet-based combat, a dynamically generated galaxy, and an evolving narrative that is different every time.
It was a fantastic honour to receive a BAFTA Scotland Award for Distant Star: Revenant Fleet. A lot of hard work went into producing the game and we’re pleased that we were also able to take on a lot of input from players during Early Access. Quite a few features of the game were suggested by players and every review, video and comment from players through the development process was noted, summarised and passed onto the team. While this did add a lot more work for us (actually, quite a lot more than we had anticipated!), we’re extremely happy the result was worth the extra effort.
We’d like to thank all the players who took the time to get involved with the project and also the local games industry here in Scotland and across the UK who are incredibly supportive. It’s a tough business we’re all in but the people in this industry really are what helps it thrive.
Thank you all!
This release unlocks all ships in the starting shop as well as a number of combat balancing changes and bug fixes.
Distant Star: Revenant Fleet launches v1.0.02 as it graduates Early Access.
This patch brings a major overhaul to the mission system - in particular the spawn behaviour of enemy fleets.
The latest update to Distant Star focuses on improving the shop and loot system, as well as adding a number of attachments and improvements.
Surprising that you could win a BAFTA award given your mediocre ratings here and on Steam.
Hi offcenter,
There are only 5 reviews here (7,8,10,10 and your score of 2 which lowers the average, taking it 8.75 to 6.8), so not a large enough set of data to be reflective of the title.
The Steam reviews were affected by a large volume of players when we exited Early Access in April, but since then we've rolled out several updates to address many of the issues raised in negative reviews (and players that have tried different iterations of the game have generally been positive).
While the reviews since then have been more positive, the volume of players has been lower (partly due to the legacy negative reviews), so the review score has stayed in the mid-60s. It is unfortunate, certainly, but for a small project created by a small team, we're proud of the quality of the end product and the level of support we've offered our community.
We can't speak to the decision of BAFTA to give the award to us, but we certainly felt honoured to receive it.
