Combining its own unique take on the real-time roguelike genre, with a nostalgic 16-bit look and feel; Diehard Dungeon is a game that feels both familiar and quite different at the same time, "occupying a curious middle ground between The Legend of Zelda and The Binding of Isaac". [Edge online 2012] Followed by a trusty, treasure collecting companion chest, the player must make their way through the dungeons many randomly-generated rooms and levels. Armed with a sword and a ‘hand cannon’, all manner of nasty dungeon dwellers, bosses and traps will need to be defeated or traversed in order to emerge from the dungeon victorious! To aid them in their quest, the player may be lucky enough to encounter one or more upgrades, or new abilities, scattered throughout the dungeon. A randomly generated dungeon is created every playthrough. Discover the dungeons many secrets and multiple outcomes. Do you have what it takes to survive the dungeon?

Happy new year everyone! I hope your experience of 2014 has, thus far, been a positive one.

Diehard Dungeon is currently ranked in the top 50 on Steam Greenlight, but has been struggling for many months to be approved.

If you haven't already, please vote for Diehard Dungeon HERE

I hope you have been enjoying the latest update (1.4.2). Thanks to everyone that has supported Diehard Dungeon over the last year. The game has changed quiet considerably since it's initial release, thanks in part to the excellent feedback I've received.

Thank you for your support and happy dungeoneering! I look forward to sharing more news soon!

Is there a manual? I can't for the life of me figure out the point of the chest and the treasure it collects. Found one ability using the chest, but besides that - what is it for? What does "leveling it up" do? It doesn't seem to help me fight monsters.

Huh, looks like with enough level ups, it DOES.

As I continue to add more and more content, the need for some sort of manual or guide is definitely increasing, so it's something I plan to create. I'll probably start a wiki or something :)

I'd suggest a "kill thyself" option, as well as a way for the 0th room bonus chest to become available when you start a new game, instead of only when you restart after death.

I just started playing an hour ago and havent seen all. But it would be great if there is(will be) some sort of progresion past single playthrough - like difficulty of course and maybe some new weapons, items and enemies/bosses. Best case scenario would be to have multiple layers of progression - that resets with death and persistent one.

There's more content than can be seen from a single playthrough at the moment, but not as much as I'd like. I think you will really like the first content patch I have planned! A news article will be posted here within the next week, outlining the proposed additions / changes. Replayability is something that will be increased massively! In fact, the fist content patch is all about tackling the issue of replayability. Stay tuned! :)

Another good thing would be a game save to continue later, but with the catch that its delete if you die (so not to be used as "oh ****" ticket).

A patch (v1.3.2) has been submitted and is awaiting verification by the Desura team.

- The game will no longer crash after 'Play' is selected if using a desktop resolution above 1920 * 1200.
- The game will no longer crash upon startup if Windows Media Player has been uninstalled / deactivated (note: music will not play). Alternative methods of music playback are being looked at.
