So far it seems, that this mod just makes Diablo II easier.
will this work on Median XL mod?, this will be needed on the damn uberlevels haha!
lol yea, this will work with median XL, all this mod does is make a global data folder, with text documents to run off of -direct -txt. if you have Median XL, i believe it runs off of PatchD2.mpq , by replacing the main diablo 2 file, so Yes, it will work with median, provided you have my mod installed in the Main (Median XL mod) Diablo 2 folder, and run your median XL shortcut and in the paremeters make sure there is
"-direct -txt"
So it looks like:
"K:\My Files\Games\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
Yes, it will work with Median.
It will also not just 'enhance' it but completely break it and make it imbalanced. This is because it slightly increases the numbers in classic LoD, but the equivalent stats in Median are often much higher or lower and not in the same ballpark.
- For instance, block rates in Median are much reduced to improve balance between 2h weapons and 1h+shield, and of course monsters are nerfed accordingly. This mod (cheat tool, really) will give you an automatic 75% block, making the game easier but also rendering half of the weapons obsolete.
- Getting 10 stats per level is nice in classic LoD. In Median it will easily cause your damage AND your life AND your mana to overflow, causing your life/mana orb to flip out and your damage to wrap around to 0.
- Max level 160 means that a certain joke item with +1000 stats and required level 121 is now usable, making the game entirely pointless.
And that's just the BENEFICIAL bugs; a lot more bad things will happen, like uberquest reward charms/the new runes/gems breaking and crashing your game and the uberquest drop biases not working etc.
But hey, it makes it easier. To hell with balance and challenge and even the level of polish that took me years of my life - it needs to be EASIER EASIER EASIER. [Said in the voice of the VIOLENCE VIOLENCE guy at the end of Death Race 2000]
The D2 community disappoints me.
Until you create a better mod yourself, you disappoint the D2 community. This is a tough game originally. Mods that make the game easier are good for casual players and girlfriends. If you'd be one or have the other, you'd know.
OMG!!! Well, you should think before talking... Brotherlaz is the creator of MedianXL, the better mod ever made for D2 (not only in my opinion but in the D2 community opinion).
And, well, he really doesn't like people who cheat.
So you're saying that BL expects everyone to play Diablo by his rules and not to enjoy the game as they want to enjoy it? You're obviously just out to kiss his ass, while he apparently is out to kill other modders' buzz. Probably because he hates opposition and wants everything for himself. It takes a lot of work making a mod such as Median. Gotta have quite an empty life for it, so it's no shocker he gets jealous. The reason Median is popular is because it's a respectable conversion of the game. Sw33tsp0t's mod is an enhancement. It's not the same thing. Who likes people who cheat? This mod is for OFFLINE use, so maybe you are the one who should "think" or rather read before you start typing.
Some people don't play Diablo like they don't have anything better to do. Some people like to get through the game long before even reaching level 50. Laz has obviously been around the hardcore community for so long that he doesn't give much thought to the casual players. He should stick to his shit, and leave other modders alone. And you, Igor, should stick to his ass, face first.
Well. What could I say then? Lol? What an unbelievable answer to 2 facts... I think that I should anwer too...
BL expects everyone to play -Median- by his rules. And he said why. sw33spot's mod would destroy what Median is about. He spent a lot of time to make a balanced game, most enjoyable... By cheating, people would make the mod less enjoyable. So, yes, cheating is bad offline too.
Why did I say that you should think before talking? Because of that: "Until you create a better mod yourself, you disappoint the D2 community." You should have looked to what Laz was talking about before saying that, that's a fact.
Well, and about that: "for casual players and girlfriends. If you'd be one or have the other, you'd know.", that: "You're obviously just out to kiss his ass", that: "Probably because he hates opposition and wants everything for himself.", that: "Gotta have quite an empty life for it, so it's no shocker he gets jealous.", that "He should stick to his shit, and leave other modders alone.", and that: "And you, Igor, should stick to his ass, face first."... You just behave like a teen. You insult people and make supposition about their life that is surely shit compared to your's. Well, I'll learn you something about your life.
In 80 years of existence (I hope, and think, that it's false), it's really sad you never learned that hate isn't the better way to get pleasure from the others...
No need for an answer from you, Rob.
Igor, you have few valid points, but this statement...
"By cheating, people would make the mod less enjoyable."
...is just idiotic. How do you know what is fun, enjoyable for me? Sometimes I play by the rules, sometimes I cheat. Sometimes I like challenge, sometimes I don't. Most often I don't have enough time to play something for dozens of hours. And I have enough challenges in real life, so I don't really need them in games that often. Games, that are supposed to be fun and entertaining. For me. I don't give a damn about some modder's opinion on that.
The moment someone gets Median or any other mod for any game down on their harddrives, they could as well consider it their own. I mix and trix with mods in many ways, when it's possible, because most mods doesn't suit my needs. I've also taken other people's work, made it better, and released it as my own. Nothing wrong with that. Actually, that should be considered an honorary thing. One size doesn't fit all. You could use Median, screw that all up, install this mod, install PlugY, yada yada, and nobody should come barkin in like a got damn knight on white horse trying to make other people feel bad about playing the game that they purchased as they see fit. He spent a lot of time making Median, sure. And so what? That makes it an atrocity to fiddle with your own game? Nonsense.
Making a game easier isn't cheating. And cheating offline isn't cheating either, in my opinion, since that's entirely about pushing games to a limit and see what happens, for fun. It's only cheating if it makes it easier for you while it doesn't for others. No harm done offline. And as said, D2 is a hard game that would be more enjoyable to some people if it was made easier. A good thing then that Sweet made this mod.
Hehe, you don't need to read quite that many lines to realize BL was being an ass in his comment, so why would i keep reading his bullshit? If you throw shit at someone innocent, i'm gonna throw shit at you. The fact that you're defending him just makes you as bad as him, which is why you should be equally treated. And there's no better place for shit than close to someone's ass, wouldn't you agree?
I lower myself to the aggressor's level. That's sometimes referred to as tough love. If you make the asshole aware of what he/she is doing and treats him/her the same way, he/she might learn from it and stop being an asshole. So i can see how you believe that i haven't exactly been a preacher of love during our little journey here.
En garde?
Allright...
I agree with the first part of your comment. You have the right to modify a (solo) mod as you want.
BUT, BL said that, with this enhancement, his mod would crash. The result will not be the one wanted. Maybe it's wrong, I didn't try. But I think that it's true.
So there are two different things here.
The second part (beginning by "hehe")... I think that what you say isn't actually bad (even if I believe that you don't have to lower yourself to your interlocutor's level), but I also think you deform the past posts...
It's true that, sometimes/often, Laz talks very openly... But I think it's not insulting: he only talks about the mod. You started talking about how his life should be, in a negative way. I think that it's insulting... It's surely more insulting than Laz words.
So you lower yourself under your agressor's level... And nobody has to get insult, right?
About my posts, the first one was here to say that actually, Laz made a great mod, instead of what you said before.
The second was here to explain the first one, and to advise you to stop insulting people (that have not insult you before, I can add that)... And to say that, I started being insulting. But I started only in this post...
Nobody has to get 'en garde' in this kind of discuss, in my mind. We can stop being assholes.
Well, some of us are trying to make the world a better place. You seem like you could be one of them. We just have different ways of doing it. And my way might simply be more extreme than yours, which might mean that it's also having a better effect. I'm not saying i'm exactly affecting even one person's life by posting comments here, but although i do let my feelings get the best of me when i see someone who could be summarized as a "big-shot" in any given business assault someone lower down on that ladder of experience i stay true to my ways of trying to find a got damn balance in the unfair treatments that snowed-in assholes on high-horses can cause, in all situations, wherever that is. I believe that even the small things like these are both necessary and potentially valuable to the one worth defending, in this case Sweet. He tried to make an effort with this mod and i think that is admirable whether people who like the game harder does so or not. He simply replied to N2O's question about whether or not the two mods work together. He never implied that anyone SHOULD be using them together. Yet BL feels like he has to defend his own work by being offensive. BL has therefor earned the title "Asshole".
