Some cool post-release updates, including how to set up your own server and beat Ryga!

First, and most exciting, Deity Quest will be on Desura tomorrow! If you've been waiting to buy Deity Quest with your Desura account, you can do so tomorrow, or you can do so now with this neat little widget:

As a celebration for our release on Desura, I'll be putting Deity Quest on sale tomorrow for $8 basic edition ($10 regular), $10 extended edition ($15 regular)! I strongly recommend the extended edition - it includes some awesome extras. The sale is set from May 11th through May 14th, so get it while it's discounted!

Second, I don't have a public server set up for Deity Quest. I found out too late that I actually don't have a direct IP address with my ISP, and no way to set up port forwarding with them. However, it's pretty easy to set up your own server (either public or private for LAN parties), so I wrote up a quick guide here: Fancyfishgames.com ! A server can be run from any extended edition of the game, and can also be run from the standalone executables that you can download in that link for PC, Mac and Linux. Note that servers are only needed for multiplayer battles, and that trading runs off my webhost's database, so everyone with the extended edition will be able to trade followers even without connecting to a server!

Finally, I've heard some people are having trouble beating Ryga in the Demo! She's definitely a lot tougher than normal battles, and depending on your alignment, she'll either cast Inferno (fire damage to three of your followers) or Heal (healing her followers). However, with some spells, items and a decent party of followers, she's not that hard to beat even without over-leveling.

This video shows me defeating Ryga from a new game I started today. I began the game as a Good Deity with an Elf Ranger, and converted a Jellyfish (Beach), Killer Bee (Field) and Warrior (Field). The Warrior is melee, so I placed him in the front. Next I placed the Jellyfish so it could use its range 2 sting attack or its range 4 water shot. Next I placed the killer bee where it could use its range 3 fly attack, and finally my Elf Ranger with its range 6 Short Bow. I leveled the followers until they were all level 5's (the Jellyfish and Killer Bee ended up level 6 as they level faster), trying to find special chests so I could get rare items as well as experience. I was unable to find a better bow for my Elf Ranger, but as you can see in the video, I found a Soulstone which allowed me to revive my Elf Ranger. He didn't last long after being revived since Ryga's Demon's Dark Shot is very effective against normal types, but he was still able to pick off Ryga's Yaktaur Bowman. From the start of the game to defeating Ryga, it took me about 12 minutes - then again, I've done this many times and know exactly what to do, where to go, and what followers compliment my starting follower well!

I hope you all enjoy the game, and that's all for this update! Feel free to contact me if you have questions or want help!
