“A deserted island…a lost man…memories of a fatal crash…a book written by a dying explorer.” Two years in the making, the highly anticipated Indie remake of the cult mod Dear Esther arrives on PC. Dear Esther immerses you in a stunningly realised world, a remote and desolate island somewhere in the outer Hebrides. As you step forwards, a voice begins to read fragments of a letter: "Dear Esther..." - and so begins a journey through one of the most original first-person games of recent years. Abandoning traditional gameplay for a pure story-driven experience, Dear Esther fuses it’s beautiful environments with a breathtaking soundtrack to tell a powerful story of love, loss, guilt and redemption. Winner of 2012 IGF Excellence in Visual Art. Supported by Indie Fund.
This is so good, you guys are absolutely briliant with your environments, wow, iv never seen such pleasing environments to my eye.
I'm damn near speachless!
This looks absolutely incredible. I just played through the original mod and have to say I was impressed by both the level design and narration.
After watching this demo real I couldn't help but to be reminded of James Cameron’s Avatar especially with the eerie glow from the phosphorescent algae lighting the cave and throwing up ripple affects on the walls. Another nice touch would to be to have the water around the players feet glow when the algae is disturbed as with any on the walls as the player brushes past it. I have seen the same phosphorescent algae on the backs of marine turtles at night and its quite beautiful to behold.
What this team has created here is beauty beyond belief. The attention to detail is impressive to say the very least and the soundtrack is perfect for setting the mood of the entire demo.
Cant wait to see the final product
...I cannot believe my eyes...
Wow, hold on! Is this a game? It's almost a movie! These graphics, my god. Incredible! I think I'm dreaming when I see this, so good, can't be real.
