Multiplayer is very unstable, friend joins my game and is not presented with lobby. If I try and start game from lobby my friend crashes. I start game and when my friend joins the in-progress game it becomes very laggy with ships teleporting everywhere and then my game crashed going through a warp gate. When my friend hosts I can see his game but clicking connect does nothing, no sound effects or progress bars. Occasionally after clicking 100x it will say something about game experienced a problem connecting even though we have both forwarded same ports and he can join me no problem.
Multiplayer is terribly broken, as evidenced by no servers online at any time and you can't even set a password to keep out strangers. Game seems alright but has a long way to go in stability. Does not deserve a 1.0.0+ version tag, this feels like a beta.
Sadly there is a lot more work that needs to be done on this game. Potential is there.
1. controls need to be sorted. e.g some moves just get in the road. Choice of control method to.
2. firing bugs just ticking me off.
3. As much as I like cell shade graphics. I have to say I do not like it in this game.
4. Nav map is just poor.
5. sounds just seem to be way to loud for shooting that is no where near to me.
6. unable to target stations to know exactly which ones am supposed to go to.
7 Voice acting then no voice acting. (Ummmm just no!)
There is more I could go on about but it just ticks me off so much to see a game that has so much that needs to be sorted. I would have to say a Complete over haul needs to be done, before I even think about giving this game another go. But there is one thing I really liked. The music. Many know my reviews from Cheat Happens and this one is not as detailed as they are. I have my reasons. I give this game 3 paws out of ten since it is on the right track and has potential.
Played it at a friend's place, he just bought it off Gamersgate.
Frankly, I'm not impressed. Sound glitches, no save button, no way to check controls ingame, laggy performace even on a 660ti with a Hexacore processor. Unacceptable. There are also NO TRANSITION SCREENS, this is absurd. When you fly into a jumpgate in a game like X you're treated to a nice little fade out then the game loads, then you pop out on the other end. Here, no, the game LOCKS UP, flickers to a loading screen then dumps you somewhere in the area you entered. You have no feeling of transition, you may as well have just warped to a new level using console commands.
Equipment is poorly explained as well. Do I have ammo? I seem to ahve to reload, but several times my ammo simply sat at 0 and refused to reload. I checked my inventiry to see if I had any bullets or ammo, but no such items exist. The stats on items are very unexplanatory, I honestly had no idea what shields were better than others or what weapon types did what.
All in all, this feels like an alpha of a game, hardly more than 50% finished. Maybe when the game actually functions properly I'll buy it for myself, but for now I'll lend my friend 10 bucks until he can pay me back for his wasted money.
