I really like the art style for background and atmosphere. Like many here I am the old school type back from the Atari era so it's good. That being said I don't care for the character sprite, it looks very out of place and lacking the detail everything else has. Maybe that will come ahead in the story? I don't know, but from the trailer I don't care for it in my opinion.

Hrrmmm. All this "retro" look crap is getting to be really overbearing.

Just a thought, but maybe if you added some fun elements, it would qualify as a "game"

Exactly my thoughts mate. I know it shounds a bit harsh. But lots of people are going for the "retro" style because it means less work and then they just want money for their games.
There is nothing wrong with that if the game is good. But sometimes its just plain stupid and people just do it to get money.

I always use this example: Look at the guy who made Cave Story, a legendary game, he put so much love into it and then he just releases it for free! The same goes for Treasure Adventure Game! I loved it, and it was free!

I'm not saying that you shouldnt demand money for the game you made, if the game is good I'm happy to give you money!
But games like this are just plain boring, trying to be "deep" and stuff like that. There are thousands of these games and everyone wants money for it.....

I see it from a diff perspective. A lot of devs are needing a start, and doing something like this helps them to get started. There's also a lot of great games that don't have a focus on graphics. Look at FTL as an example.

I agree that this game is simple, but it's meant to be a casual game. I'm confident that entropixel will do quite a bit more in the future and I look forward to seeing additional games from them.

You pull it off better than most. Mainly it is an excuse for "I really do not want to share my profitts with some smelly artist."

You atleast try to make an artform out of it. Most devs are just slopping together any bunch of pixels no a days.

Thank you for the responce, I am going to buy your gaqme today, and give it a fair review.

It's not my game :), but I think it's great that you are going to give it a shot. I know the dev, and he's most certainly worked with an artist on the game. It was a specific style they were going for. Either way, I hope you enjoy the game.

It is an interesting style, but as I'm a very casual gamer, it works well for me and was easy enough for my son to grasp, so it was well worth the purchase.

I know what you mean with the "retro" style and all, but it's really just a particular art style. I'm confident other games from entropixel will have different styles, and maybe they'll be more to your taste.
