Darsana HotFix 1
Jul 09, 2006 Patch 0 commentsThis is a patch for Darsana Public Beta 1, it essentially fixes those annoying dissapearing bugs and also does a few other tweaks. Such as increased speed...
Welcome to Darsana! A standalone game in the works for the Darkplaces engine' Darsana is a combination of a fast paced first person shooter, and a detailed statistics system and strategies of an RPG' Darsana runs along the lines of a fantasy medieval time including magic, and one of the opposition forces being the Undead' It is solely multiplayer and meant for 5-30 people per server'
Gameplay:
Slots ~
[1] Melee weapon - Swords, axes, and the shields'
[2] Ranged weapon - Ranged weapons that do kinetic damage, crossbows, etc
[3] Magic - Staffs, anything related to magic attacks in weapon form
You play as either the Knights (humans) or the Undead' Each force has their own fortress and god' The goal of the game is to destroy the opposing force's god' The gods are located in the center or an easily guarded area within each force's fortress' The gods will have a high HP such as 5000' Once destroying the god the force who destroys it wins the round'
The "money system" is based off of gold' The way to purchase high priced items is to slay your enemies and collect their gold' Every player who joins a server starts with just the spiked club, a relatively weak and free weapon' Once killed you respawn in the "buy mode" where you can purchase new weapons'
You can purchase any item in the buy section for any slot if your gold can amount to the price, but you gain experience from killing with each weapon' So someone who has been using the crossbow the entire round most likely is more accurate and reloads faster with it, same for all other weapons'

Darsana for those who have never seen it before is a standalone game based in medieval times. The game is mainly multiplayer and is a mix of FPS and a small dash of RPG. Fight amongst the forces of the Knights or the Undead. For the first release we're planning to have an 'attack/defend' scenario of play where the Knights are fortified in a castle with 'Gods'. And the Undead must infiltrate this castle from the outskirts and destroy the Gods. Darsana also has a per weapon and per weapon class based experience system, magic, potions, explosive arrows, bucklers, and an array of melee and long ranged weapons at your disposal. All of these gained by eliminating target foes and gaining experience.
As for a visual update you can check out some of the staffs and what the mouse over menu's look like as of now.
Also if anyone is interested they can check out some of the shots from our internal beta over here:

But more importantly Darsana is looking for people to help on the mod as mappers or skinners. We welcome anyone interested to contact me at rampaging@ru1337.com or post in the forums at: Darsana.ru1337.com
