Welcome to Darsana! A standalone game in the works for the Darkplaces engine' Darsana is a combination of a fast paced first person shooter, and a detailed statistics system and strategies of an RPG' Darsana runs along the lines of a fantasy medieval time including magic, and one of the opposition forces being the Undead' It is solely multiplayer and meant for 5-30 people per server'
Gameplay:
Slots ~

[1] Melee weapon - Swords, axes, and the shields'

[2] Ranged weapon - Ranged weapons that do kinetic damage, crossbows, etc

[3] Magic - Staffs, anything related to magic attacks in weapon form

You play as either the Knights (humans) or the Undead' Each force has their own fortress and god' The goal of the game is to destroy the opposing force's god' The gods are located in the center or an easily guarded area within each force's fortress' The gods will have a high HP such as 5000' Once destroying the god the force who destroys it wins the round'

The "money system" is based off of gold' The way to purchase high priced items is to slay your enemies and collect their gold' Every player who joins a server starts with just the spiked club, a relatively weak and free weapon' Once killed you respawn in the "buy mode" where you can purchase new weapons'

You can purchase any item in the buy section for any slot if your gold can amount to the price, but you gain experience from killing with each weapon' So someone who has been using the crossbow the entire round most likely is more accurate and reloads faster with it, same for all other weapons'

Darsana after a relatively short hiatus has a media update that makke, an excellent skinner and uvmapper really came through for. He's finally finished skinning the Undead! But before I get into that Darsana will within the next month or two have a public beta testing that will have quite enough content for people to play around with.

Weapons

Club, Dagger, Broad Sword, Battle Axe, Long Bow, Crossbow, Fire Staff, Leech Staff, Lightning Staff, Posession Staff, Explosive arrows, Mana Potion, Health Potion, Buckler

Game-play

Darsana will feature the map 'Segway', which takes place in an abandoned castle and caves. The objective of Darsana is to destroy the opposing force's 'Gods'. This can be done by simply destroying it with weaponry or taking posession of it using the posession staff. Also indigenous structures will be around that can also be posessed by a force and destroyed. You level up with each weapon individually exponentially adding to your damage ratio, but also based on class of weapon an overall speed up of damage. Such classes are melee, longrange, magic, and items.

Also you may find some items useful along the way in your battles, such as mana and health potions for a quick regenerate on the fly. Also explosive arrows doing a small blast radius, and the Buckler. A shield that deflects 80% of the damage inflicted when held upward. You play as the roles of either a Knight, or The Undead. Work as a team to win the objectives, or go solo and slaughter the enemy, your choice.

Anyways, to some of the images of The Undead.

This looks like a very interesting game and will certainly fill a certain niche that has yet to be filled. I can hardy wait until there is a playable version of Darsana :)

yes it uses hl1 and quake3 maps and can be drag and dropped right into directories.

info_player_start - knight spawn
info_player_deathmatch - undead spawn
info_player_observer -first spawn for team select in map

Those are the basic entities for Darsana other than god entities which wil have a more detailed manual later on for making (quite easy just not AS easy).

CS maps can be drag and dropped into darsana directories too and played with no editing as well.

The gameplay looks a bit like guild wars with the god (lord) in the centre of a castle :) but wouldn't it be a kewl gametype be be with a party of players and accualy defend a castle against swarms of npc monsters ??? like invasion in Unreal Tournament. Just an idea hope you like, coz i do :p
