Darkout is a sandbox, with strategy and survival components. One of the clearest influences present in the game comes from titles like Minecraft or Terraria, sandbox platformers where the player can build up facilities and modify his environment at will. But in Darkout there are some interesting points that make it worth to look at, starting by the importance that light has in the game. This is a really promosing title, I look forward to it, and I'm pretty sure many people that still don't know about it will also look forward to it once they find this gem.

Unique artstyle and fun gameplay in a genre that's left mostly unexplored. I recommend it!

Darkout is basically a game that wants to be Terraria but have what they consider to be nicer graphics. The game is fine and good and you'll notice I have given it 7 out of 10. I will just concentrate on the things I think need attention but that doesn't mean it's a "bad review".

It's true that the lighting effects in particular are very nice. It feels as if visibility and clarity is sacrificed though.

A general point is that there seems to be not enough feedback in the game. For example when you hover your spade over the ground, the squares that will be dug up are clearly highlighted. When you are going to chop down a tree though, it's not highlighted. This is the same as Terraria. At least in Terraria though, when you are chopping the tree you get visual indication of it through particles flying off. With this you get a sound but that's it- it's almost as if you are swinging the axe at the air.

Some things in the world like a door or a bed have ghost copies of themselves when you try to place them so you can easily see where they can and can't go. Other things like torches don't, and it's often hard and frustrating to place them.

It also seems that some things you place can be removed in the world and some, like torches, can't. This is annoying when you accidentally place torches you didn't want to place, which I suppose is something I will get used to with time.

Overall it's a good game though. If you like the idea of Terraria but hate pixel graphics you will be all over it. It does seem a bit too similar to Terraria at least to me at this early stage though.

If you liked terraria, you will most likely love this game as it provides similar game mechanics with some nice improvements. It is a survival/exploration game with gorgeous graphics, for such a kind of game, and a nice and rewarding crafting system, that is used as a leveling system.

The quality of the game is also very nice, there nearly no bugs or only smaller ones which have no impact on the gameplay. The current version of the game is not the final one, so not all features are implemented yet but the game is continuously updated with new features.

Maybe the price seems a bit high and a price of 10 bucks would be a wiser choice but the game is definitely worth it and i can only encourage you to try this game out and to give it a chance. I definitely enjoyed playing this game and spend a lot of time with it so far, expecting further content to consume a lot more of my time.

This game is awesome. I have had the privilage of helping as a game tester for their updates.

You can expect content updates the Dev's are active and passionate.

I can sit down and play this game for hours on end.

The recent patch completely revamped the ingame research process it is way more smooth and intuitive.

really enjoying this game at the moment, bit confusing to start out but you'll get the hang of it. The game looks beautiful and you can defiantly tell the developers have put alot of time into it!
