Originally developed by one person and using a custom made game engine, Dangerous Rays is a single player FPS game with some survival components inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R* game series, where you play as a normal citizen that survived to a nuclear accident disaster.

What is this game ?

If you want to learn more about the game and it's features you can visit the home or the features page of Dangerous Rays website.

Can i play Dangerous Rays Now ?

We are glad that you want to play it but the game is not released yet. Dangerous Rays early alpha access release is planned for April 2014.

What is this early alpha access thing ?

If you want to know more about the "early alpha access" release model of the game click here.

What are the supported platforms ?

The game will run only on Windows, we can't make a Mac/Linux version because of some programming libraries that the game engine use and we are sorry about that.

Where can I get the latest information about the game ?

You can check our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. You can also visit our community forums.

Are you planning to release the game on steam ?

Yes but don't hesitate to support us and buy the game before that, every owner of the game will receive a free steam key when the game will be available on steam so you have nothing to lose by buying it now. To support the Steam release you can vote for Dangerous Rays on this greenlight concept page.

How often the game will be updated during the alpha / beta phase ?

We are planning to release from 2 to 4 updates per month.

Why the game has been announced so close from its release ?

Lonely Bits Games is a very small indie studio, so we made the choice to fully focus on the game development rather than "losing" time to handle marketing and say "this game is going to be awesome" without really anything interesting to show, we finish a playable version and you decide if it's worth buying or not :)

Will there be multiplayer ?

We might add a small scale cooperative multiplayer mode later in the development but this is a quite complex task because the game simulates a huge number of things that are very difficult to synchronize properly in multiplayer. The game is originally made for a complete and detailed single player experience.

Do i need internet connection to play the game ?

You only need an internet connection to download the game obviously, once your game is installed you can play offline without any problems.

I hate DRM, what kind of DRM does the game have ?

The game is 100% DRM free, no serial, no internet activation process, you are free to install the game where you want and when you want.

What are the system requirements ?

- We strongly recommend to update your graphic card drivers before playing the game.

- If you have a NVidia graphic card you need to have at least 195.xx drivers series to run the game properly.

- The game doesn't officially support integrated graphics chipsets.

- Playing with less than 4 GB of RAM on your system is not recommended as you can experience "out of memory" crashes.

Minimum: With these PC specs you can run the game but dont expect to have a 100% smooth gameplay and push the graphics settings too far.

OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (64 bits version recommended)

Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual Core e.g. Intel Core i3

Memory: 4 GB RAM

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 / AMD Radeon HD 4830 (with at least 1GB video memory)

Hard Drive: 5 GB available space

Recommended: With these PC specs you will be able to have a smooth experience with a good graphic quality.

Processor: 3.0 GHz Quad Core e.g. Intel Core i5

Memory: 6 GB RAM

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 560 / AMD Radeon HD 7750 (with 1GB video memory or better)

Optimal: If you want to get the most of Dangerous Rays this is what you need.

Where is the modding documentation ?

Modding documentation will be added gradually soon after the early alpha access release.

What about Youtube/Twitch copyright issues ?

You are free to make "Let’s Play", "Review" or any video you want about the game and use in-game audio & video without the need to request permission.

If you want to be a nice person you can include a link to Dangerous Ray's website in your video description. We would appreciate this.

Are you Hiring ?

We don't have any open position for now at Lonely Bits Game, if Dangerous Rays is successful enough we will start to hire some people, but we want to stay a small indie studio anyway.

Why you don't make a Kickstarter ?

We don't want to make any false promises. We are not the kind of developers to say "our game will be awesome", "best game ever" and ask for 60000$. We are making the game, we release the early alpha version then you can see if you are interested or not before giving your money to us.

What were the development costs till now ?

Approximately 6000$ (Yes 6000 not 60000), work in a garage and just eat pasta, that is the secret !

What language is Dangerous Rays coded in ?

The game is coded in C++, using the latest C++ standards (C++11) and compiler for max execution speed.

Oh for f**k sake, another clone of DayZ ?

No, Dangerous Rays has been made by one developer since 2011, and a custom made game engine has been developed only for the game, you can't just call our game a DayZ clone. DayZ has been a great source of inspiration and we recommend you to buy it ! Dangerous Rays is a single player oriented game with the goal to provide very detailed mechanics that can't be reproduced in a multiplayer environment because of their complexity.

I can recognize some assets from other games, you have stolen it ?

Of course not ! Since we are a small studio we bought some assets from specialized websites, so since those websites are opened for every developer you might have seen some assets in other game before. If Dangerous rays is successful enough we will hire more 3D artists to replace those assets with exclusive content. A lot of assets are still made by us. We don't use external assets for everything of course.

I really like the part about "Kickstarter". Reminds me of CR's Star Citizen
