This game tells the story of Bjarni, a stout Viking: As a young boy, he accompanied his kin on a journey to search for the mysterious Sunstones. The search led them all the way to an undiscovered continent – America. His father, Leif Eriksson, today is often called the true discoverer of America – much earlier than Christopher Columbus. His last adventure – a journey to solve the mystery of a strange vision – had led Bjarni through all of Europe and into the Orient.
In his travels, Bjarni met three courageous heroes who chose to accompany him. Together, after numerous ordeals, they managed to defeat the terrible Snake of Midgard and save the world from destruction. For this had been Bjarni’s vision – and his fate. There was a spectacular victory celebration ... and then it was time for these heroes, who had become good friends, to go their separate ways...

any one know if knights and merchants will be released on linux
Please ask LGP
Today I bought Northland for Linux. When do you plan to release other linux games on Desura?
According to a guy from RuneSoft, Deck 13 games are to follow. If Northland is successful, 8th Wonder of the World may follow
Arnaudk is right.
Hm, ok, how am i supposed to play this. My screen res is 2560x1440 where the game is running unplayable slow. But even if i switch to some lower res using NVIDIA X Server Settings, game tries to open 2560x1440:
$ ./Cultures.Northland
Problem: Requested Screen size 2560x1440 too large (Max size 1280x800)
-w switch also does not help, it just opens a window with 2560x1440
Unless there is a solution, this was some major waste of money :(
Running mint 14, amd64, nvidia closed source drivers, any help?
You can set any resolution you like in ~/.northland/config.xml*; it looks like the game autodetects the resolution on the first run, and then sticks with that. The changelog mentions a configuration window but I haven't found it.
You can also run the game with the -l switch: Bitbucket.org
EDIT: *= and aspect ratio is properly adjusted automatically!
Thanx, modifying the config.xml i now can play it. I find it weird, that they just did not implement a real fullscreen switch to a certain resolution like other games
Runs a bit slow for me - there is a noticeable lag in mouse movement & actions, and a pretty big one when zooming. Have the same "issue" with both the oss radeon driver and legacy Catalyst.
Otherwise, it worked fine out of the box and all that. Thanks for bringing this game to Desura!
Everything is done in software, thats why there is some lag on higher resolutions. A fast GPU does not help a lot here.
So... do I need a Cray supercomputer to play this? :))
I hope things will improve; game is playable and it makes me feel nostalgic for my old P166Mhz, but that's obviously not ideal in present day.
