Cubic Climber is a simple game based on player`s reflexes and ability to move fingers on keyboard without releasing specified keys too soon or pressing the wrong ones. You play as a climber who is trying to climb a mountain using various holds. Every climbing hold is presented by two keys that you must press and hold until you get to another one. Some of the holds are time limited, if you don`t get them in time, you will fall. This game also includes: multiplayer(sort of), list of top 5 players in different categories, customization of your climber, system for improving qualification times and 5 unique levels. You can try to beat best times of other people and improve your rank by earning points. The final release will be totally free!

Summary

Cubic climber is my first released game (apart from some LD entries) and also the first finished project of Simplicity Game Development Studio. I am really surprised how many people played it during last 3 months. What's even more surprising, a few people decided to donate us some money by buying our game. We didn't earn more than 20€ but the fact, that someone bought the game that is available for free is really awesome. I can't express how much we appreciate it. The last thing I want to mention in this part is YouTube. You can find there more than 2 pages of Cubic Climber videos when you search it via browser. Thanks!

Why is the linux version unplayable. Did you test this on linux or did you just release?

It wont even start the game? Or you get some kind of error? Linux version was not tested properly as it was released in the last second. I will see what I can do about it. If it wont work I will have to remove it permanently or until I fix it. Thank you for letting me know.

I can only speak for myself, but I couldn't play the game either. The game does start, but it "runs" sooooooooo sluuuuuugggggggiiiiiiiiiiishhhhhhhhhlyyyyyyyyy slow that it becomes effectively unplayable, even at the standard windowed, 640x480 mode with the lowest graphics quality settings.

Thank you for your comment. I will download linux immediately and I will try to fix it. Maybe I know where the problem can be.

When I try to launch it from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I get the following error:
Desura Error
Failed to launch item.
Failed to read
[/home/george/Aplicatii/desura/
common/cubic-climber/Cubic_Climber]:
Couldnt open the file
[/home/george/Aplicatii/desura/
common/cubic-climber/Cubic_Climber]

I click on verify files, and it shows no error. What could be causing it?

Linux and Mac version were not tested properly. I thought there will be no problems but I was wrong so both of them will be removed :/ . I am sorry for that but development was aimed directly for Windows. I will be careful about this in my future projects.

Ouch, I'm so sorry to hear that because it looked like a very cool game. Is it possible to install the Windows version without Desura? If the answer is "yes" I might be able to install it through Wine.

Yes, you can download win version in "DOWNLOADS" section but there is some problem with that at the moment.
Try this link if it wont work:

Ok, thanks for help. If I can run it through Wine I'll let you know. But the problem you're talking about is about the download link or the package itself?

Sorry for not responding for so long, but I didn't have internet acces. The result is that no matter what I try the game freezes my entire system when loading. The only progres I made was delaying this event, but still I didn't managed to actualy play it. Anywais, I tryed the game in Windows, and it's great so I'll give it a 9. God Job!

Where are the save file locations, among other things?

Just so that when I uninstall this eventually I am able to properly clean out any "loose" files.

Almost everything is saved on online server but there should be some files in this location: HKCU\Software\[company name]\[product name]

Oh wow! Very clean, I like it! :D
(I'm talking both the files and the gameplay!)
Right now I'm rating 9/10, but I'm getting addicted, so it's slowly turning into a 10/10. haha

Crasssh! Nearly froze my system guys. The window just flashes, as do the images and text. GTX680 Windforce and this game don't appear to mix at present. Other than some possible driver issues, the footage of the physics look quite good.

Hello! We know about some similar problem. It should be fixed in new version so hopefully it will resolve your issue too. It should be updated in 1-2 days.
