50 EA games soon to lose support for multiplayer online.

EA have not found any alternative to the dying Gamespy service and a large number of games thus lose multiplayer support.
Gamespy has long been a household name for gamers, as numerous games, both PC and console, had multiplayer modes built on servers.
2014 marks the notoriously late for Gamespy, which also means that hundreds of games are in danger of losing support for gaming on-line.

Many developers and publishers, including Activision, Rockstar and SEGA has announced that they are working to find alternative solutions for games that use the Gamespy servers. Similar messages came from EA, which over the years have used Gamespy for many titles, but now the company has announced that they choose to flappers support in their Gamespy games.

Technical challenges and not least the fact that most of the games that use Gamespy start pulling on the oars, located behind EA's decision to allow multiplayer support across 50 titles die out. A variety of titles, such as F1 2002, EA Sports 06 to PC or Fifa Soccer 08-10 for the Nintendo DS, has hardly many active players, but the list also contains relatively popular games like Battlefield 2, Crysis 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2.

PC games constitute a large part of the list, but Nintendo consoles are also strongly represented. Nintendo has not gone back on its decision to allow the many DS and Wii titles that use Gamespy lose multiplayer functionality, and EA games are no exception.

Popular titles loosing online multiplayer 30th of June 2014.

Games like BF2 and such were unsavable due to issues in base code or net code or some stuff. I would believe games that could be savored a little while longer, would be. But this is the natural course of life. Good, old multiplayer games must die so new ones can take their place. Too bad the new ones are rarely up to par with the old ones.

Actually BF2 don't need saving. And also, I thought we had already saw how good multiplayers will survive unless the playerbase died, literally dead. Even if it loses official support from the publishing company, only issue is the player base probably won't grow that much and when the existing playerbase die of old age there'll be no replacement.

HORSESHIT vlad, "don't need saving" WOW speaking proper English, moving on, this game has MORE replayablility and gameplay then failbite EVER will have, infact if it wern't for the mod desert combat, BF2 would have never happened, THAT mod RIGHT THERE is pretty much the SOLE reason for BF's continuation... And your **** statement over makes 0 sense "I thought we had already saw how good MP will survive unless the playerbase died" that is a ******* joke, refractor battlefields are still played TODAY, especally 2142 specifically Titan mode, AND THAT alone is worth saving, the mods yes, but the fact that people still play the games.. something EA will NEVER understand.

Before ******** all over my english you should correct your spellings. **** dude you don't even know **** about what I am talking about. I said BF2 don't need saving because it's not ******* dying. Unless you're a ******* immortal you will die and you will stop playing whatever the ****.

Frostbite battlefield is so garbage that it make refractor battlefield playable, they have SHIITER code then BF2 EVER did, GARBAGE hit detection which made refractor games seem flawless, and need I saw it again... MOD TOOLS, something Frostbite will NEVER have is the replayability WHICH IS WORTH SAVING, I mean for **** sakes tell me one good mod that Frostbite has, PR? NOPE nor will the devs do it, PR2 is using CRYengine... so many good mods and edits we the PEOPLE can do that Frostbite won't allow us... so keep playing your new garbage, I'll enjoy the classic games that ARE MORE PLAYABLE

EA would probably be like "buy our new games, then pay for a online code, then pay for a subscription to the game to actually make progress in the game or other wise be over run people who can afford our subscription" they did that in BF3. (assuming you dont know) they made a pay to win kinda deal and let you pay through the ranks instead of actually grinding for it. Personally I love the old cncs, zh etc, better. idk im just rambling now, apologies.

In truth, this is an effort to update the multiplayer service by letting an old unsupported one die. Natural order of life and whatnot. The fact that you would "need" to buy new games as a basic user is just a good side meal for the companies.

I think there will be people who gonna find a way to bring back the multiplayer on these games using such patches or other ... maybe third party tools

As the suggested ones in this very post? It is just that there will be no original official servers avaliable at the hit of a "search" button. Use of console could still allow you to manually connect to a server, if such is programmed in (Such as ValVe games like CSS). But I understand this reasoning. As long as newer games come out, capacity will always be a question. Dear lord, the day WoW support will go out ahahahahaha.

Project Reality and Forgotten hope 2 will be using their own server to replace gamespy.

Frankly EA could have used the origin service to keep the log in server running for BF2.

gods below people. you all sound like a bunch of ignorant leftist rank and filers ready to vote(guns are more sure of coarse) and tax and outlaw profits as if making money were some form of criminal activity or worse. if a company cant make money there is no game at all. there is no telling why ea did not buy out GS. They did not save poor old M-player either and we survived. fact is you are dog gone right its about money! they cant feed their dare i say "workers" kids
standing in line at the government center much less pay their skilled artists and evil ceo and the pretty secretary. while still "giving back to the united way and am i at risk if i say and save a penny or two for the stockholders? remember that no communist ever created a single luxury(you no..bf2 fpr example) much less anything else but a little business for the ammunition industry and grave diggers union. lighten up already and have fun. and oh yeah vote smart and elect the guy with bad hair and lackluster speech skills next time and maybe GS could possibly have made some money.
