You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

One year later... I still remember every single second of my first CoF experience that I shared with friends through a Let's Play. Now it is back, improved and more sinister then ever before.

No more getting enemies stuck on corners and stairways... It's like a new nightmare. As well as time to once again confront it - until the very end.

Cry of Fear... One of the most amazing horror modifications / games of all time. We are coming, Simon...

Hats off as always, Team Psykskallar.

Patience. Just because the release date is the 24th doesn't mean that they'll be sitting at their PC's in the middle of the night to release as soon as the clock hits 0:00.

I hate to say it, but I didnt really like this game. Just because you add a few cheap jumpscares (The brown-dress woman) and a few loud sounds donest make it scary. The only thing that scared me the most was the darkness, nothing else. But yeah, the story is good, the level of detail for being Golden Source's really great and its long, something today's gaming industry, both mods and games have forgotten. I really hope somebody makes a game/mod which can recreate horror without jumpscares...

Every horror game will have jump scares in them,Its waiting for the jump scares to happen that's the worst part about it,if you take as an example amnesia the worst part is walking around while waiting for the monster to pop out and give you a scare

Same here. It was not so scary for me. Typical jump scares and sreams for horror games. But CoF have really interesting survival gameplay, good storyline and it's really technically advanced, being half-life mod. I have plans for replay in when it's will be released on steam. And i wish good luck to devs for their next projects, and not only. They deserve it.
