You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

Sorry to bitch, but can we maybe get this on TouTube? I'm unable to proeprly watch ModDB videos with my slow internet connection. And I like to watch things a couple of times ;)

Ah, I'm not sure about the recoil, in the slightest...

It's a bit overdramatically overkill.

I'm fairly sure a trained police officer will have no problem keeping a straight face firing salvo's or pot shots with weapons like that.

actually, i kinda like that fact because it's more a think about surviving, rather than being a good shooter.

The reason why it has a such great recoil, is that we wanted to make the weapons feel strong like in real life. It's not easy to do it virtually, that's why we exaggerated the recoil a bit. I mean, In real-life, you can feel the weight, the smell and the heat. In a game, you can't feel that, other than having the vision tricking you into think the weapon is really powerfull and is actually doing a lot of damage.

The recoil, plus the impact of the fear... You'll maybe not have all your strength during a dark night with such things attacking you :)

Recoil is legit imho; as novice of anything more-than-.22lr, I was staring at sky after short burst from PM-98, so this is quite stable compared to my performance. And like every cop must be pro on everything "gun".

That the graphics, the sound and the light animations are freaking awesome is out of question. The level design looks spooky, and fits the atmosphere perfectly. Nevertheless, I have one minor complain: The walkingspeed. In my humble opinion, your average walkingspeed is too high. Maybe it feels different when I am playing this mod, I dunno. But the rest is perfect!

Nothing popping up from the back? For example, when you're inside a house, you think it's clear... Could be fun in co-op x)

Uhm, very cool gameplay video. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun :) interesting monsters. Their fast and twisted movements were the reason AoM was so incredibly scary to me. My only complain... this in-game video shows how horrible model lighting is. Dont know what your plans are, but... can you change that? Its just a suggestion actually but if you could, it would improve A LOT the atmosphere. I got distracted more than once looking at the disappearing lighting in the wrong places.

"Looks like morphine, this is strong stuff, should be careful with it"
Does it mean using it when on max HP may cause death?

What will happened if the Likes reach to 10,000 ? Announcement of sequel or just another give away staff Hmm.......~~~ ? I really hope is a continue the story, because it really cool that this project deserved a sequel. Also, Good luck for the future project after donning this.

Think about it. Does that make sense? Asking for a sequel for something that hasn't even been released yet is just a little greedy.

With the exception of Overgrowth and the recently released No More Room in Hell, this mod is the only reason I have an account on MOD-DB. Your team has done monumental work with the Gold Source engine, and it's the best mod I've seen on that particular platform. I know that you really want to wait until the game is "perfect", but the reality is that it's already close enough. This video is proof of that. Not only that, but it's not like you can't release patches and updates...

Keep up the good work!

PS- Update the "percent done" meter. It's been at 95% for like four months.

Ive been watching your guys develpment for quite a while and I must say you all have come a long way and are doing a great job.
I would like to critique a few of the animations of your monsters..

The main issue I have is the death animations, they are so simple and not lively at all. When they die, they kind of just lean and fall over. Perhaps make them struggle or squirm a bit more to gibve it that lively feeling.

The amount the camera shakes and the recoil is really disorienting. It doesn't work for co-op like this, it won't be fun.

One other thing that is often neglected with weapons is the sound. A beefy fire sound goes a long way in making a gun seem powerful.
