You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

The updated 1.2 build of the Cry of Fear SDK has been released! This will be great news for those custom mappers going the extra mile for their campaign competition maps. This version was made almost solely from requests from mappers who wished to do cool things with their campaigns but lacked the entities to do so. This version aims to rectify this. We hope you mappers like the new changes, and if you have any questions, head to the Cry of Fear forums where the community and developers will gladly help you. Here is the changelist:

  • Added support for mappers to enable dual wield on the revolver
  • Added support for custom hints.txt and objectives

You know, typing "Thank you guys!" isn't that hard really, and it takes less than 10 seconds of your life, while they've spent days, even weeks on it...

It will work for Half-Life 1, not Half-Life 2. They use different engines.
