You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

I'm just so happy we're back on track with Cry of Fear now, so I decided to write a short news post about the progress, and also show you a video and some screenshots!

This weekend, James and I made A LOT of progress. We mainly fixed bugs (at least I fixed every bug I had assigned to me, which was like over 200 bugs or something), and also added some awesome stuff, such as unlockables. I made an update (update 88), a patch basically to my team members, and that patch is 965 mb big, and contains 403 files. Now people, this is only what I made on this weekend. Imagine how much we're working our asses off!

High-res Normals

Another cool thing than unlockables, is that I've finished making all the high-res normal maps, see pictures below.

High res normals Part 2 High res normals Part 2

As those textures are pretty high-res, we're deciding to make an option where you can turn off normal maps, if you experience too much lag with them.

Weapon Animations

We've never really showed you any weapon video, so I decided to do that now. We're showing off 3 weapons (Glock, TMP and Switchblade), and it's all in-game. Creds goes to Jordy/Sporkeh (the troll in our team :P) Enjoy the video!

That's it for now, hope you like the awesome progress. And as always, if you want to donate, you can head over to our donation section, where donators gets the TMP plus secret news in the forums. More info on link below.

your time awareness is legendary... jks. just to clarify this working on a mod with so little people, and this is a Total Conversion, takes bloody AGES, not to mention they are also doing some amazing things with GoldSrc.

Idiot... So dumb, so weak... I can bet you don't even know how to mod. Some games can take years to develop. Example: Duke Nukem Forever (12 Yr Development, but sorta sucky game). These people have several things you don't: They've gotta job, profesional modding skills, and like Chimerad said: A LIFE!!!

Can you explain?

I haven't seen animations this good in a retail game in a long time. Most animations today are a simple bam, clip out, clip in. Knife swings are pretty damn basic, also.

The sounds for the TMP & Glock were taken at the shooting which you mentioned few newsposts back right?.

Because, forgive me for my comment.

The Glock 17 gunshot reminds me greatly of the Counter-Strike:Source Glock 17 gunshot. Or perhaps it's because Glock 17 sounds like this IRL.

Doesn't really sound anything like the CSS gunshot. For comparison, you can find the CSS Glock sound in sound/weapons/glock/glock18-1.wav in "counter-strike source shared.gcf".
