Coldenlight is an episodic Cooperative Action Adventure game.

In the first episode; players battle with their friends and enemies through dynamic, random, and violent environments where they test their abilities against other players and Artificial Intelligence.

I have been working diligently to program and implement the valuable core features of Coldenlight.
In the next few days I will release a shortened version of a long video explaining the future of Coldenlight. Today I will show you a few screenshots of things featured in the video and brief explanations of a few features discussed in the upcoming video.

I. Cooperative Gamplay

The first episodes allow players to operate cooperatively against AI, other players, and/or both AI and Players. There is a lot of freedom in Coldenlight's development, which has lead to a wide variety of game modes. Coop, Versus, Versus Coop, Necro Versus, Capture the Castle, and many more. - And among each one of these modes is a wide variety of unique and randomly generated scenarios within multiple environments.

II. Open-World Levels with Randomly Generated Content

Each episode will contain a variety of open-world environments. Each of these environments will offer a new experience each time you play.Each level has an "AI Director" that selects and places various AI and environment props, including rare content/AI used to unlock rare achievements.

III. Unlockable Items, Equiment, Heroes, and AI MercenariesNewNews01a

While playing the game you will unlock achievements that unlock more content. The content is not neccessarily more "powerful." It is just different.It will give you more flexibility over how you start the game. You will have a limited number of points to select your starting equipment.Achievements can unlock a variety of useful items and equipment, as well as heroes and AI Mercenaries who can accompany you into battle online.In addition to your starting items, you can obtain items throughout your time in the "Chapter" you are playing with your friends.

IV. Next-Gen Minecraftian Level Design

Over the years I've been developing a system to handle destructable levels in a similar manner to minecraft - but with nice next-gen graphics.Not cubes, but detailed 3d geometry. I have a pretty simple solution for this and near the end of the season all levels will use this system.For the first episodes, only a few bonus levels will have this system implemented.

V. Episodic Releases

I want to release 6 Episodes by April 2016. My target rate is 1 Episode a month, but the first few episodes will be released a little slower.I have huge amounts of content and levels to work with and refine. After this first season I expect to release 12 episodes a year.

VI. The Future of Coldenlight

I have three important systems that will undergo drastic changes on each release. One is the realistic minecraft style environments.The other is a very complex organ system that contains a heart, lungs, stomach, eyes, ect. and a brain that efficiently controls them all.The player character of Coldenlight has a connection to its environment like no other. The survival aspects of Coldenlight are unparalleled.The third system I will not discuss yet, I'm going to sneak it in there soon ;)

VII. End of First Alpha Stage

I've closed the current alpha funding. Anyone who purchased the game while it was available will recieve a very special edition. This very small group will recieve very exclusive content. It won't give them an advantage, but when players see them; they will know they are someone of importance.

VIII. Future Funding

Very soon I will be releasing a rather long video with detailed explanations of a lot of the features and the direction the game will be taking.Along with this video I will be starting a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign and spreading it around as much as I can. I am interested in speaking with any reviewers and interviewers who are interested in the game. If you have a youtube channel, blog, or website, I am open for discussion.Soon, I will have an opportunity for our fans to earn an exclusive achievement that unlocks special content. They will unlock this achievement from advertising the game with a special code.This is going to be very limited, so contact me now if you are interested.

Also, will this game be some kind of open world? Will there be some (hidden) way to defend/kill those weird muthaf***k ? Im not sure of what kind of experience you're trying to give there the videos doesn't tell much but i ike the idea if it is what i really doubt.

Ah and i almost forgot. In this version of the alpha, it's mainly about survival. There is a secret door that can be opened if the UFO spots you waiting outside of it. You can collect six of the weird diamonds to end it. You can be killed by the spectres. Or if you last long enough the level is engulfed in a wave of lava, of course ending the game.

Thanks for the comments Soldier! It will be an open world in a way. But not entirely in the sense of being able to traverse the entire world starting at one point. There will be different "campaigns"
In this alpha version you can't defeat any of the enemies, very soon though you will have weapons and devices that can eliminate them. There will also be "monsters" and humans opposed to "spectres." Though ghastly foes will continue to make an appearance throughout the game.

What I seriously like about your project is the art style. Vaguely appearing mysterious shadow beings, weird environments and an unique atmosphere as it appears to me. It seems like a whole new kind of modern myth like in the old days. Too bad that it won't have a third-person view, because I prefer that view much more than first-person perspective even if the game is about survival and it's atmosphere...
Well, great work anyway. Does "free cooperative" mean that there will be no singleplayer mode?

Thank you for the comment, Plejadenwolf! As far as modern myth goes, wait til you see whats in store! :)

As for third-person, I really like that view as well and it can definitely be implemented into the game as being togglable on and off!
As for singleplayer, the whole game will be optionably singleplayer; and the first releases will be exclusively singleplayer.

I like how this looks, and even though you didn't get your kickstarter done, I'd still donate if you'd like, the look of this makes me remember some of the good old days of gaming when games were built to be fun and stretch the mind.
