Cradle to Grave (or C2G) is a hyper-mod aiming to bring the frantic pace and hugely enjoyable gameplay of Blood (by Monolith Productions) into a new medium and with our new granted freedom we'll even be able to implement some of the ideas which didn't quite make it into the original, not limited to new and never released weaponry, enemies, gameplay modes and perhaps even magic. This product exists only as our homage to Blood's spirit and, if successful, it could help bring Blood's glory to new heights. NOTE that C2G will require you to own a copy of Blood as we do not provide you with the original data files.

A kickstart

We're back in business.

We just had a meeting where we discussed the direction we want to take the project and we've landed solid on several things such as the storyline, campaign plans and new C2G exclusive content including new weapons etc. Now there is just a decent uphill battle ahead of us. All of us have our separate tasks which are going forward well, including mapping, weapon optimization and item programming.

We know you're waiting (im)patiently for actual updates, so I thought I'd write this up to inform you that we're working on everything behind the scenes as we speak. We'll drop you some development videos and screenshots in the near future.

If you're really dying for updates, you might spot some insider info and development discussion at The Postmortem forums, or at our IRC channel, but we're not promising any exclusives :)

I also want to reiterate that Cradle to Grave is NOT a 1:1 remake of Blood; it is a new chapter in Caleb's storyline that introduces new features while still retaining and keeping everything that makes Blood unique. There are already other projects porting Blood to EDuke32 and that is not what C2G is about.

We're very likely going with some custom MIDI music for this one on our own (as we stand now), but we'll see how much time we have from coding, as both of our musicians do programming as well.

Another great feature of C2G is to have it moddable so users could submit their own map/music/enemy packs if they wanted to. As we're using EDuke32, it will also support OGG or WAVE music.

If you're throwing yourself available to us, we'd be more than happy to hear some example tunes in the mood of Blood or even Blood 2, which had an amazing soundtrack, in whatever format you're comfortable with. We can't just use MP3s in the end product (as there is no support to it) and nobody really likes transcodes so we would need the music either as original MIDI tracks, or in OGG or WAVE format. Send me a private message if you're up to something!

It's not exactly Blood remade for a new engine, but a new chapter in Caleb's storyline with a completely new campaign with other new content. But we will include the possibility to play the original maps with the original content (requiring you to convert the maps by yourself, though).
