Right now, there are people all over the world playing Counter-Strike: Source. Odds are, there are more people playing today than there were playing yesterday. It, like its predecessor, is quite simply a global phenomenon, originally created by and now sustained by the gaming community.

Counter-Strike: Source is a remake of Counter-Strike, and consequently retains all of its team-based objective-oriented first-person-shooter style gameplay. CS:S is a must-have for every action gamer.

Before all of this, just press the download button to download the mod.

Counter-Strike 1.6 Source Beta Seven

Okay, let's have a talk about this release. In this release you will get to see some interesting for you things. In this release you will see the class, team and buy menu like you have seen it in Counter-Strike 1.6. I have made it looks like you have seen it in Counter-Strike 1.6. But I would like to say, that I will make some minor changes to these things, and in the next release you will see a 100% alike class, team and buy menu like you have seen it in Counter-Strike 1.6. So, here are two videos about it, let's have a look.

How to install.

1.) To run this mod you must have the Steam version of Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life 2 to be installed on your computer.

2.) And of course, you need to have the Source SDK Base 2007 to be installed on your computer.

3.) Open "csport.rar" and extract it to the sourcemods folder.

4.) Restart the Steam and you will see "Counter-Strike 1.6 Source".

5.) Double click on it and play.

Snake-Eater2k6, it is true CS:S is sold as a separate game, but if you take a ponder at how the file system is set up, CS:S still cannot run unless the small HL2 program files are present. Hence, CS:S is still a mod.

Though I dont think it is impossible to mod a mod. Nothing technologically says you cant, and nothing in the English language says you cant either. Unless I've missed something in my thinking.

Technically not - CS:S is a standalone game built on the Source engine. CS was a mod of HL, but CS:S was built from the ground up on Steam, and can run without any of the HL2 content installed.

The Mod DB definition of 'Game' is "Can be downloaded or purchased and will run without needing any previous game to be installed, ie contains all its own engine and media (Think indie games or full commercial titles), or is a commercially released mod which includes rights to use all required engine and media content (Think Garry's Mod)". We don't strictly keep to that, but wherever possible we aim to.

bluedrake is correct CS and CS:S are mods of there older brothers HL and HL2 these "mods" as you would call them are infact add-ons.

in the same way that adding a new skin to a model is an add-on, adding extra gameplay is an add-on so zombie is an add-on for CS:S not a mod.

What you said is absolutely incorrect. There aren't any (as of yet, some are / may be in developement) traditional mods, but many servers run things like RPG mod, Deathmatch mod, Zombie mod, Gun-Game mod, Warcraft mod, Superhero mod (dunno if there is one for CS:S), etc. While only some of these change models, weapons, etc, they all alter gameplay to the point where they are refered to as mods.

If you played CSS at all you would of course already know this...

Counter-Strike is a mod itself, if there were going to be a mod using Source engine it would be for Half-Life 2 and it's SDK, not Counter-Strike.
There's no point in modding off a mod.
That's why there's addons.
