STORY:
The year is 2040, space exploration is underway and the world's superpowers are in a race to capture the last known frontier, and definitely the biggest, space' As the race ensues each superpower sends based on available resources and usage on the plan a set of settlers such as doctors, mechanics, and other useful citizens with skills applicable to the planet' Along with these citizens to protect them from industrial sabotage or any other attacks are Extermination Crews which oversee the settlers when they are outside of the base and retreat back to the settlement and stand guard' Obsidian is a dense, barren planet with no signs of life on the surface, a thick red fog due to the extremely high amounts of iron found in the atmosphere and embedded into the surface' Importance by the superpowers is based on how lucrative a settlement is in finding something to make them money' Thus mining was considered one of the few things capable that may turn up some profit' Mining, like the terraformation of the planet and settlement construction was quick and sloppy' Destroying entire cliff faces and laying havoc to the Obsidian surface' Soon many miners disappeared, but the settlers did not have the man power to send out a search party' Once in a while a miner was found wandering the desert lands, and was found hostile on contact' Upon further evaluation of the miners a rather large parasitic creature was found grappled to the upper spine feasting upon the host's gray matter' All blood within the body was somehow removed or consumed by the parasite however to keep the muscles alive they are stimulated by a complex web of tentacles within the body sent out from the parasite' Due to Obsidian's lack of profit and the superpowers' haste in settling new planets the settlements had to fend for themselves from a barrage of attacks most likely caused by the sloppy excavation of the mines'
