Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

Every time I quit the game, the next time I tried to play it on steam said it was still running. I checked the process list and it wasn't in there. I tried to exit steam but it couldn't because steam complains conquests of elysium 3 is still running. I had to force close steam with task manager to fix the problem.

I am running windows 8 with UAC turned off. I have tried other compatibility modes, but no luck.

Anyone? Getting frustrated having to force close steam when I finish playing.

Try quitting by pressing Alt+Enter to go to windowed mode, and use the X at the top-right corner. See if that keeps Steam from complaining..

Edit: Answered already on Steam forum. Seems I gave a functional workaround. Sounds like an issue on the Steam side (assuming that running Coe3 without the executable actually kills the process). Another attempt to fix core problem is to try running Steam as an administrator, then run Coe3 and quit out of it. Does it still complain about it being on?

I say a Steam problem because if the CoE3 process is actually not present, then it's Steam's client missing it.

By the way Nneu, this may not fix the problem, but I'm curious if verifying the integrity of the game would make a difference...

To do so, in Steam, go to Library, right-click Conquest of Elysium 3, go to Properties, select the Local Files tab, and click the Verify Integrity of Game Cache option.
