Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

Fix the Wildlife MOD | Locked | |
Thread Options | ||
Apr 8 2012 Anchor | ||
Personally I dont agree with the complaints about wildlife. But Im amazed that no one has offered a mod for "fixing" the complaints yet. So I have created a mod for the Deers. It seems to keep the deer from attacking farms and mines as much. This can easily be a basis for someone doing a more extensive mod to include Deer, and Snake, Wolf, Boar, Bear, Elephant, Moose, Serpent, Giant Boar, and Giant Spider for the members of the community who want it. The home thread for this mod is here if anyone wants to discuss it further. |

Is that all the wildlife in CoE3? -- Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit |

Its hard to draw the lines. Where does it split between wildlife or monsters? I guess you could also include all generated wanderers |

I'm actually going to work on the wildlife stuff as I test the new modding commands. That's not all the wildlife, there are some more, and I'm not sure that giant spiders and similar should be modded to be less aggressive. The lesser creatures, yes, but not the monsters. What I absolutely suck at is graphics, so if somebody were to make a mod banner for a wildlife mod, with something like perhaps a somewhat transparent background with a wolf, deer and serpent in it, that would help. |

I'll see what I can come up with. How transparent shall the background be? Name of the Mod? EDIT: Edited by: Thalic -- Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit |

That draft graphic for the wildlife mod is awesome! And the name is not important, it's always easier to change the mod name and filename than to change the graphic. I'd probably prefer something like the darker transparency such as the Necromancer GUI had in the elements. It fits nicely with the CoE3 background and won't be too intrusive. But I'll use the graphic as it is in that screenshot just as well. Thank you! |

I was rather proud of the banner on mine. |

I'd probably call it something like "Less Aggressive Wildlife" or "Tamer Wildlife" or "Less Intrusive Wildlife", as like Gandalf, I don't really agree it's broken as is (so "fix" seems an overstatement). One thing I would probably tweak though is wolf damage at 1-7, which seems very high compared to other weapons and animals in the game. I might increase the number of wolves per pack to compensate, but it seems to me wolves could be dangerous from number more than because each wolf could really slaughter an armored man. If attacks on groups of troops by these animals could be reduced, too, that would seem to make sense to me too. But maybe animals as units represent animals under the control of angry nature spirits, or something. |

That's really cool, ulius4! |

Thanks for doing this ulius4! I was working on it but it got sidetracked due to the mod documentation and other stuff. |

Thanks for doing this! By the way, how did you figure out how to make this mod? |
||
Dec 14 2012 Anchor | ||
The modding manual can be downloaded from Illwinter.com It has detailed instructions on how to produce a mod. |

Any chance for a re-upload? The links seem to be dead. |
||
Dec 16 2012 Anchor | ||
You have a browser problem if you can't download them. The links from the Illwinter page work just fine for me. |
||
Dec 17 2012 Anchor | ||
I'm referring to the wildlife mods and not the manuals. Or can you get the mods from the Illwinter page and I'm not seeing them? |
||
Dec 17 2012 Anchor | ||
Okay, it was unclear. If you right click on ulius's dropbox links and choose save target as, you can save the files. You then need to place them into the mods folder as per the modding manual instructions. |

Hmm, I located my mods folder AppData>Roaming>CoE3>Mods and placed the c3m files there, but when I select them from the mods tab in the main menu and hit exit, I crash to desktop with the error: unknown mod command ' Thanks |

That sounds like an issue in the mod. What version of Coe3 are you running? I'll try it and see what happens. -- Slackware 14.0 |
||
Dec 18 2012 Anchor | ||
I can't find the actual version number. I know I have at least version 3.16 because I have the option to make sure no random player becomes the same class as another player. There was an update on December 7th apparently to do a minor overhaul on recruitment, but I can see no evidence of this in my Steam version of the game. I have tried using both the files in this thread (wildlife mod) and the larger, more recent files posted by Ulius4 in this thread. EDIT: Ok, I'm just a big derp. I apparently saved the LINK to the digital dropbox location and was fooled because it saved it as a c3m. It's not though, just a bunch of HTML gibberish. Sorry for the confusion On that note, still can't get at those dropbox files regardless of browser choice. I can always just make my own based on what gp1628 provided though, so thanks for that Edited by: Dark_Confidant |

Here is Gandalf's hosted by me (probably will be taken down in a week): Filebox.vt.edu As for ulius... it appears those files are no longer on his dropbox, and I don't think they are hosted elsewhere (and because I wipe my hard drive about every month, I don't have the old ones)... -- Slackware 14.0 |

Thanks I made my own version with the help of that mod and their manual to expand to the wildlife I don't think have any business attacking civilization. It wasn't a balance thing as much as I thought it was odd an entire town of people would be wiped out by a single snake or moose. |

I'd say a moose could definitely do some damage. -- Slackware 14.0 |
