Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

This thread is used solely for listing bugs that have been reported and is not open for public posting.

In order to report a bug, post in the Report Bugs Here! thread. If it's a legitimate bug that has not already been listed, it will be added here to the appropriate bug category.

BUG REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Describe the buggy behavior precisely. Vague reports are less useful for identifying problems and harder to act on.
  • Always state the version number of the game! You can see that in the Credits section. This is not relevant right now, but will be when the game starts getting patched.
  • State your operating system and if relevant to the bug, other system specs
  • Include screenshots if you have them
  • If you have a save game that demonstrates a complex bug, send it to info (at) illwinter (dot) com for analysis.
  • If you were running the game in debug mode, include the relevant portion of the log.txt from the CoE3 installation folder. If you can't identify the relevant portion, include the entire log.txt (save a copy and rename appropriately so that it can be identified from the other bug reports)

BUG CATEGORIES

Bug categories are going to be fluid as of yet, but here are some types. Note that the listed types are subject to change if a new way of organizing things turns out to be more efficient.

  • Statfixes: Stafix bugs are things like a unit having too low or too high stats, wrong weapon (e.g. dagger when the graphic has staff etc) or other similar bugs. Statfix severity is usually minor (most of the bad ones got weeded out in beta)
  • Network: Network bugs are related to the network multiplayer side of the game.
  • Map Editor: Bugs related to the map editor. If it's explained in the Map Editor Guide and doesn't work correctly, it belongs to this category.
  • Magic: Bugs related to magic paths or individual spells (e.g. mages casting a spell on targets that are immune to it etc).
  • Combat: Special abilities and other things in combat not working as they should
  • Terrain: Bugs related to specific types of terrain (wrong movement cost etc etc)
  • Typos: Typos are just that, misspellings or other grammatical errors in game text. Severity minor.

KNOWN BUGS

Green text = Fixed
Purple text = WAD (Working as Designed)

Statfixes

  • (3.00) Manticore's Flick Barb weapon has sound effect 22 (fear) , but it should be sound effect 13 (crossbow) or 14 (bow) instead
  • (3.00) Retiarius's Net weapon should not cause disease in addition to stun.
  • (3.00) Dwarf Councilor should have MR 6, not 5
  • (3.00) Manflayer is not fast, but it should be
  • (3.00) Longdead Triarius should have a pike with the long attribute
  • (3.00) Elder Enarie cannot use libraries

AI

  • (3.00) Witch, Druid and Barbarian assign very low priority to capturing forests and concentrate on gold and iron generators instead.
  • (3.00) Enchanter gives far too much priority to Terracotta Soldiers. The Enchanter should only use apprentice to do them, if at all. Details here.

Combat

  • (3.00) ranged# attacks with poison damage are used against poison immune troops instead of the alternate. Needs to have immunities to damage type factored into the selection process. Same is true of melee# (Intended behavior. All non spell attack are completely random. /Johan)
  • (3.00) Blessing spells (Priest King) only add HP bonus to max HP, not current HP, making HP increases from a blessing useless for non-sacred troops (i.e. those who are not automatically blessed all the time).
  • (3.00) Swallowing/Incorporating regenerating units results in combat lasting the full 75 rounds and the swallower gaining a massive number of HP because the regenerating unit does not die. If units are swallowed or incorporated and no more units remain on their side, combat should end immediately. Abominations and Ancient Presence can end up with hundreds of HP by swallowing doppel spawn, trolls etc.
  • Charm and regeneration in combination when failing to control regenerating summons can result in strange behavior. Description here.
  • Ethereal buff spells target already ethereal units

Rituals

  • (3.00) Troll King's shamans can't plant Shadow Trees in Cannibal Villages even though the terrain is Jungle (Skull Cave should also be checked)

Description Errors

  • (3.00) Wrong description for Armor +1 and Armor +2 popups (they now say that everyone at the location gains experience bonus)
  • (3.00) Rune Smith Ritual of Mastery has same description as the Dvala Ritual of Mastery

Map Editor

  • (3.00) UHJK crash the game to desktop
  • (3.00) "Stop Junk" graphics

Network

  • (3.00) Sometimes in network MP games, income stops completely even though it shows positive values. Link
  • (3.00) Sometimes in network MP the game begins with no visible area showing, just the black background. Quitting the game and rejoining OR moving a commander fixes this problem. Link to report.

Other

  • (3.00) Sometimes game refuses to recognize shift key and it is impossible to type capital letters. Restarting the game usually clears the problem. Is present also in the Dominions game series.
  • (3.00) Doppelspawn and creatures reanimated by Bolt of Unlife are not automatically assigned to the commander who created them
