What is Colonies?
Uniting the elements of creativity, horror, and adventure, Colonies promises to deliver a unique and ever-changing ORPG experience. In this open world, you have the freedom to settle your own villages, to defend your friends from the creatures hidden within the dark of the forest, and to cultivate and transform the land for your own purposes. To survive is your ultimate goal; how you achieve this is up to you.
Unlike many ORPG titles, your actions, friendships, alliances, and accomplishments in Colonies truly make a difference to the in-game experience; politics, the ever shifting web of contacts and connections, your social standing and presence, can allow you to quickly make friends from other villages, or rapidly develop a legion of fearsome enemies. Who will be the face, the voice, of your people? How will other villages perceive you? How will trade and your economy develop? It’s up to you, the community.
If the threat of creatures and other aggressive villages wasn’t enough, then the mysteries of the darkness will be. Ghosts, the souls of lost children, and other dark forces will wander into your villages and cross you during your adventures…how will you survive?
Defend your friends, erect your village, hunt and cultivate.
And hopefully, thrive and survive.
How can I play?
Colonies is currently in its closed Alpha 1.0 stage. You can sign up for alpha here (our temporary forum). Access is not guaranteed.
What features are planned?
-An ever-changing world shaped purely by the players
-Villages created and governed by the players themselves
-Basic jobs, like farming, mining, fishing, woodworking, cloth working, and cooking
-Advanced building, allowing you to make a personalized home for your needs and profession
-A simplified stats system, reducing grind and improving players' experiences
-Skill-based combat (no more button bashing or complex combat systems!)
-Diplomacy amongst villages and villagers
-Children and Family NPCs (spawned based on your stats and living conditions)
-Pets and farm animals
What platforms will Colonies be available on?
At the moment, Colonies is only available on Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, and Win8 successfully tested). After our early testing phases, we aim to have a solid build out for everyone to enjoy, including those on MacOS and Linux. Please be patient-- we want everyone to play ASAP!
Who are the developers?
Jungletoe (Programming), ICT (Pixel Art), LegendWeaver (GUI Art), and Allen Calmes (Music). We're informally part of the development group Giraffes. Colonies is currently our main project.

New Animal AI
Animals will now attack you if you attack them (excluding rabbits). All animals also have individual health and muscle stats now. Once attacked, animals will attack anyone within a 40-tile radius.

This game is starting to seem like Don't Starve, if it was a Multiplayer game.
Like, the feel seems similar. Like Minecraft and Terraria, but more in-detail like Don't Starve.
That's what I'm going for. A simple, yet detailed sandbox survival game.

Haha! Very cool! Games with murdering people in their sleep PVP! Not enough of those! I like a lot of what your going for. The choice to move away from a complicated combat system goes strongly against my tastes, and you have a really good set up to so something tactical, but everything else may eventually get me interested in this project anyways. Good luck!
I'm reworking the combat system a bit. I don't like it being "too simple", but too complex confuses people and takes away from the base elements of the game IMO.
