Cogs is an innovative puzzle game where players build an incredible variety of machines from sliding tiles. Immersed in a steampunk world with stunning visual design, Cogs is pure eye candy. Players can choose from 50 levels and 3 gameplay modes. New puzzles are unlocked by building contraptions quickly and efficiently.

  • Inventor Mode: Starting with simple puzzles, players are introduced to the widgets that are used to build machines — gears, pipes, balloons, chimes, hammers, wheels, props, and more.
  • Time Challenge Mode: If you finish a puzzle in Inventor Mode, it will be unlocked here. This time, it will take fewer moves to reach a solution, but you only have 30 seconds to find it.
  • Move Challenge Mode: Take your time and plan ahead. Every click counts when you only get ten moves to find a solution.

David has created another design tour analyzing the classic indie title Cogs. In his design tours, David points out game design details that make different games stand out. Cogs is an innovative, steampunk, sliding puzzle game which is in the Humble Indie Bundle 3.

Be sure to watch it in HD!

I've definitely passed through a solid phase of addiction to Cogs, but I've never really thought about the underlying principles that make the game so fun.

Be on the look out for another design tour soon!

Don't forget to pick up your copy of the Humble Indie Bundle #3 if you have not already.

Xbox is terrible.I rather that is for PC,PS2,PS3 and maybe an GBA or GBM version will be nice. There are milions of gameboy advance and micro. Is this game freeware or else?

Xbox Live Arcade is a thriving place for modern indie games. Games like Limbo and Bastion can make their debut there, report back the interest of the casual/harcore Xbox gamer, and debut on Desura or Steam later.

As for GBA (and GameBoy Micro is the same thing... just smaller), that kinda died out... 6 years ago... (A DSiWare game'd be nice).

So yeah. (Also, Sony - not the place for indie developers... and this game is a real pay-to-play game...)
