When the terrorist attacked Chernobyl Power Plant, captain Yuri Ryakov was sent to sabotage their efforts and destroy radioactive material transports. He succeeded... partially. Now, Russian Army is attacking terrorists' positions in Chernobyl. However, despite their numbers and aircraft support, they are having tough time trying to defeat the terrorists. They seriously fear the terrorists may take enough radioactive materials away, before being defeated. Yuri, who knows the area very well, is assigned a partner - captain Fedor Strushyn. Together they are sent forward and into the battle, to destroy all the enemy transports they can. This is an epic voyage right into the heart of the battle, and further away - to the Middle East, in pursue of the last stolen radioactive transport.

Very solid and satisfying shooting action, surprisingly polished for an indie.
The game system is similar to the "Call of..." games and i dont care for those games, but this one i liked.
Less gratuitous show and cliches, more gameplay.

My review is out: Egamer.co.za

I was disappointed to be honest...like, it's a well-made game and I can see you put effort into it, but it's in desperate need of more variety, and especially an identity of its own. Unfortunately, it didn't really do anything to differentiate itself.

It's a good-looking game, graphically, it checks all the right boxes performance-wise and technically speaking, and the shooting mechanics are solid.

But the game sort of played it safe in the worst genre to do that. Maybe others can give input as well and we can get more opinions :)

Thank you for the game and the opportunity, I hope the feedback helps a bit or is thought-provoking, and your next project is awesome :)

What were you expecting? a Triple A blockbuster shooter developed by a team of 200 people?

It's a shooter game and that's all it needs to be. Have you played the original Chernobyl Terrorist Attack game? I don't think you give the game enough credit. Your expectation is for a game that really isn't in the indie budget range and you didn't tak that into account, like a bad game reviewer.

I have to completely disagree with you because the basis of your thinking, I believe is unfair and not appropriate.

I play and review indie games from wide spread genres almost on a daily basis. I'm fully aware of all limitations, and I cut indie devs a lot of slack. The basis of my thinking is that indie games shouldn't strive to do what Triple A/mainstream cough out in spades. I.e, standard military shooters in the modern war genre. All you're going to get is a "light" and limited version of those games then. The lack of a budget (which I stated clearly in the review) has always meant that indie games' strengths are creativity, innovation, individuality, experimentation, style and broadness.

Then, whether indie or not, all games should be entertaining and have an identity that make them unique as a whole. Those two things apply to all games. Chernobyl Commando is entertaining at times, and it is a well-made game with great graphics and sound, but it has no identity of its own, and it's a standard military shooter with literally only two gameplay variations for the whole campaign. For me personally, I can't speak for anyone else, that's sadly not what I come to indie games for.

I've played plenty of indie games, some for free some not, that have completely taken me away from "mainstream/Triple A". In fact, indie games have blown my mind and gotten me excited far more than Triple A recently. I think you're giving them too little credit/expectations.

I may have been harsh on the game, and I can accept your point completely. But I don't feel we should be holding indie games back. The talent on offer and standard of games being created right now is incredible. I'm impressed almost every day.

Keep in mind though that my opinion is just one of many, and I'm completely fine with you disagreeing.
