Sequel to Command & Conquer Generals in development?
CNC General's World is reporting that Electronic Arts Los Angeles may be developing Command & Conquer: Generals 2. The main reason for this speculation is the fact that in February it appears EALA registered the Generals2.com domain name. In addition, the Red Alert 3: Premier Edition will include a beta key to a future C&C game.

What do you think of this? I hope the next one will be GEN2...I hope so it would be so cool..

Great games even if they are different than the other C&C games. (My favs are C&CTD and C&CGZH.) The original Generals series continues to provide a decent modding platform as well. I really hope EA keeps that option available as I will probably Mod it too. hehe :D:D:D

P.S. ADD AND EXPAND NAVAL COMBAT PLEASE!

well, another rumor said that the next cnc game is CnC4.
So, let's see which one is released first by EA.

Personally, I hope for Generals 2. With notes that the game is not rushed so there's only a few patch afterwards, not like CnC3 (9 patches) and RA3 (10 patches for a couple of months!?)

And also, the Generals 2 will be moddable without SDK ;)

n5p29, it's better that they issued some patches and corrected some annoying bugs than they patched nothing and left it all as it is.

And personally, I hope that they come up with a new engine, different from the last ones, so to avoid creating another World Bugger or incomplete Mod SDK (without support for x-packs).

i hope they dont fuck up the modding possibilities like they did with cnc3 and every game after it, but thats the thing is the key words are AFTER IT which means there gonna have to make an SDK for this generals 2 if it exisits and its gonna make all the modding on it 10x harder

Eh? I thought EA bought the generals 2 domain years ago, I remember hearing about it. If that's the case this is OLD news. :P

It's hardly a new development.

Unfortunatley Generals 2 is unikely to be as easy to mod as ZH since, lets face it, EA doesn't care about modding.

They just want to make a profit from the game itself.

The main issue is it will doubtless use the same engine/technolgoy as RA3 and therefore be just as difficult to mod. I miss the days of FinalBig/Notepad being the only thing you need to edit the code. :(

EDIT: Aidas2, Dude, you realise that the Gamers Hell News/Rumor post was in August 2008 right? xD Like I said OLD news.

Gens was a flop to be honest, it has an excellent modding after-life but it didn't really catch on like the games before it.

With this 'clsed source' modding the only thing Gens2 has going for it is the advertising and one title every 18 months machine installed by EA in Los Angeles.

I simply say if EA fails with expanding the Generals series that would be an epic mistake on EA! And again make it nice with graphics and gameplay but still keep it simple to Mod! Perhaps use current Generals and Zero Hour Mods as a reference huh? *winks*

Just my thoughts... thanks EA for listening if any of you Devs read these posts and take my advice...

I want Generals 2! I'm not a big fan of the C&C series though I do like Renegade, Generals and Generals Zero Hour. Whilst it is different it is an awesome game. And yes make it easy to mod and improve naval warfare ffs!

Part of the reason Generals Zero Hour is so good is not only because of its simple and easy to understand gameplay, but because of all the good ways to mod it and its simplicity for modders! If they keep it in Generals 2 and expand on other features that could of done with more work (naval warfare, POWs, online services etc.) then you have got an awesome game coming!

Cool,if EA make Command & Conquer:Generals 2,it will be very good, because i like Command & Conquer:Generals and Command & Conquer:Generals Zero Hour so much,in my opinion,it's the best game in the C&C Series.....Also i like the ORIGINAL IDEA of Generals & Zero Hour.....China & USA vs Fucken Terrosrists(GLA).....Sadly,there are no Russia in C&C:Generals & Zero Hour.....I would like to see in C&C:Generals 2 Russia,USA and GLA.....Russia & USA vs Fucken Terrorists(GLA).....OK,i ended my big speech=)

I've seen the news by EA they said it was Command & Conquer 4 and it will be the sequel for Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath

Samster01 Jul 15 2009, 7:53am replied:

Oh, in that case it can't be Generals 2 if it's a direct sequel to Kane's Wrath, then it has to follow the same storyline.

The problem is EA underestimates the importance of mods, as a reason for people to keep playing the game even 6 years or more after release. (ZH was released in 2003).

The only reason people still play ZH today is for the mods, and because SAGE is easily moddable.

Hopefully EA listen to what people want and use an engine that is easily moddable. Then people can play Generals 2 and mod it for years to come.

They would have to add another faction though. The GLA cant revive themselves again.

Also, if they add a worldbuilder, it would be great to put a building editor so we can make buildings easier and more convieniantly.

The reason they didnt have naval units is because of the glitches. The boats need a stopping distance, and if you stopped them right behind land, then the boat will be able to go around on land.
