About Rise of the Reds with 29 comments by The_Hunter649 on Apr 11th, 2015

Hello everyone,

It has been a bit more than a week now since the release and we've been reading into the feedback and comments you have been providing us since then. Based upon this feedback we are actively working on a new update for ROTR that should be in your hands before the end of this month. We're also working on making some tutorial videos for those who have trouble installing and playing the game although we can't say exactly when these will be finished but as soon as they are, you will be notified via your media of choice.

Some of the changes for this update are:

- Better connection experience with SWR.net
- IP addresses should no longer cause conflicts while connecting to SWR.net
- People will no longer get randomly banned from SWR.net
- Some balance and gameplay changes (details will become available with the patch)

Two things we can however tell and show you about these changes:

Shmel Troopers proved to be a bit too good in certain early game scenarios so they will receive a nerf to their base weapon. In turn, they will now also benefit from the "Advanced Infantry Munitions" upgrade which will give them a new launcher which will boost their attack power.

Warhounds, although not being particularly unbalanced or weak in any situation, had a rather low survivability in the later game. To maintain their utility, Warhounds now benefit from the "Armor Skirts" upgrade.

As always, we would like to remind all of you out there that there will be another official live stream this Sunday.
Keep in mind however that unlike before we will now be streaming in the evenings rather than the afternoon.

EA? Well they spam out WAY to many game releases or expansions each year.

I mean just look how many Sim's games and expansions they created. Around 28 expansions for two games! That's just stupid IMO.

Or the seemingly endless amounts of FIFA games they appear to create. Same deal with the Madden series.

The need for speed franchise is in the same boat.

They just spam out endless sequels to the game series' they own.

They'd do much better to release a new game in a series every 2-3 years and add in as many features as possible.

If that didn't convince you, have a look at this list, courtesy of Wikipedia. En.wikipedia.org

come to think of it you're right.. need for speed started out in the 1990's and began to evolve. but the way it evolved was every bit of change made was immediately released when they can put it all in one package. same with sims.

there's also one issue about RA3. some users say that they need to get back west wood and put EA out of the spotlight. EA made RA3 and the result was awesome. but why do the others want EA out? they make pretty good games (an exception for ZH because they did not put that much effort in it which is the reason why modders are doing all they can to make it great). or am i wrong about the issue?

Partialy agree. While Shockwave is downright awesome, Contra on the other hand, has too many units/structures crammed in without any proper balancing or actual need of the unit/structure (the triple set of Patriot defenses comes to mind). Plus, the before mentioned upgrades aren't well placed (for example the SuperWeapon General receives the EMP Patriot upgrade extremely late in the game tech-wise). And even though I think Jason Statham is an excellent actor, his picture instead of "Col. Burton" isn't enough for it to be a great mod.

The other mods that have high potential are the Rise of the Reds mod and the European Conflict mod. Although the RotR mod only has 3 playable factions at the moment and the EC hasn't been released yet, the videos, screenshots, ideas and storylines speak for themselves.

From modder's perspective, Zero Hour is the C&C game with the best modding capability and it's also easy to learn. It have a lot of nice additions from the classic C&C Generals.
