Every bit as good as it is charming, I can't believe it flew under my radar for so long. This is one of those games where you can tell it's creater loves gaming and was crafting something that they themself wanted to play. While extremely hard to describe, I can tell you that it contains elements from classics such as old school Metroid, Castlevania, and Megaman as well as elements from an eastern-style RPG and that it pulls them all off flawlessly.

A cute platformer.

best indie game i've played so far

An awesome throwback to the old SNES side scrolling RPGs. Just as well, it's probably one of the best games I have ever played. And it's free!

FANTASTIC Game!!!!! Very much in the spirit of Metroid, this game is a blast! I'm blown away by how much depth this game has, and the different paths you can take through the game provides a fair amount of replay value.

Such a well crafted, fun, challenging, atmospheric game.

Best game ever!!

Fun and immersive game, with a good gameplay!

honestly, this version feels like a step down from traditional cavestory. the higher resolution, both in graphics and in sounds, make it not "feel" as good. there's something about the new translation, too (in comparison to the one on the fan site), that just doesn't "feel" the same. i know that's a very vague way to put it, but it's all that comes to mind, and it makes a big difference in how enjoyable the end result is.

Old school platform action rpg at its best.
