Haven't tried yet, but I can almost guarantee that the problem is you don't have ia32-libs installed (I think that's the right package name). Open the Ubuntu Software Center, or your package manager of choice and search for ia32-libs. This should fix your problem.

yup, 64bit fails with a "file not found", strangely enough the file not found is the executable throwing this error

It's the same version from Cavestory.org that also doesn't work. Guess we are stuck with 32bit.

64-bit doesn't work for me either. The bin file is there, but it doesn't load. I switched it to 32-bit, and that one works fine. Hope the native one gets fixed.

This game is nothing short of amazing. It has everything a platformer should have, and then some.

This is one of those games that everyone should play at least once. Truly a masterpiece.
