Hijack the International Space Station and retrofit laser cannons. That's Captain Forever. With one hand on the keyboard you duck and weave through an endless universe of hostile star-ships, your own weapons tearing at their hulls. Each vessel is a flotilla of girders, boosters, and lasers welded in a unique configuration. Blast open an enemy's command module and these components drift freely into space. With a quick hand on the mouse you scoop these up and weld them to your own ship, building yourself stronger, faster, more dangerous. Be careful though - your design dictates your flight characteristics. Put all your weight or boosters on one side and you'll fly in circles. Aim a laser in the wrong direction and you could shoot off your own wing! In Captain Forever you can build a dreadnought brimming with lasers or a sleek starfighter. The choice - and the ship - are yours, Captain. Captain Forever is a free web game with supporter-only sequels.
I finished upgrading the VCD (Vehicle Configuration Data) export system, so now you can share ship designs far more easily. The new system lets you browse your ship's configuration history, so even if some Hotel level jerk wipes out your perfectly balanced wing you can still recover your flawless design. It's also fun flicking through your designs, reviewing your game like a highspeed slide show.
Along with the new export system I added more export protocols, so now you can share designs via Facebook, Twitter, and even a plain ol' hyperlink. An unexpected upshot is that you can also quickly find and try designs by other twitter users, like so.
This release hit both Captain Forever and Captain Successor, and included a few little bugfixes around Kilo girder exports in CS and occasional crashes when building insanely large ships. With these fixes out I'm ready to start work on the next episode - woo! This will probably be a small but interesting design diversion. Expect news soon!
Captain Forever has launched! This means a new game for supporters, and a free game for everyone. Wooo!
I did a Let's Play/First impressions on this game! Come check it out if ya like!
Big thanks to the developer for this great game!

Wow this is great! I mean.. wow! =D love it!
Great idea you have going here that reminds me of Blast Works (wii) a little bit. I'll have to check it out......
*goes to captainforever.com and plays around for 20 mins *
Wow!!!
That is really a kick *** game you have going there and all in the browser. Very intuitive and I really like how once you go to the site you are in the game. I didn't even realize it was a game at first until I saw my little guy and all the parts show up. Love how you can just start dragging and dropping parts at any time without having to hit buttons or menus. I was doing it while getting attacked as I got the hang of it. Love the export idea with all the good options. Really freakin cool game, congrats on all your work! I will spread the word about this one :)
So wait is the successor game like this game but where some of the other opponents are other people online? That would be sweet! Either way this is great and I'll be supporting soon. Don't know how this game dodged my radar but keep up the great work!!
reminds my of flow...with spaceships, and that wf and bsf style, eventhough this is quite a bit to shiny for them...
