This is the last demo of Byzen!! Esta es la ultima demo de Byzen!! Disfruten!! Enjoy!!
Byzen tells the beginning and development of the ‘Revolución Oriental’ (Eastern revolution) in 1811, focusing especially on the episodes of oppression of the Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata on the Banda Oriental. The game is introduced from the diary of a peasant named Ignacio, who writes about the serious problems that weigh on his homeland due to the Spanish Empire control. Our protagonist decides to take along, with several others, a revolution to the north of the Banda Oriental, which fails and as consequence are taken under the claws of the Spanish crown. Ignacio manages to escape from Montevideo’s prison, hiding at two days from the city. There, he meets Venancio, a farmer who hates viceroy Elio with as much fury as the rest of the viceroyalty, it is then that he makes one with the ‘Oriental’ collective need for freedom and put an end to Elio’s harsh rule.
Byzen has been under development since 2011 and as soon as there has been something to comment or make official our blog or social media has been used for it.
Since almost no information about development has been published during the last year, we are now going to inform you what has been done during 2014.
New engine update:
The graphic engine has been modified by its creators, which has been useful to add new characteristics and correct evident errors which were much more complicated to solve in its previous version. The new engine has changed the way of representing shadows, models and textures as well as it has also been optimized in order to have a better performance. A great detail is the quality of water inside Byzen, which has been considerably changed.
This mode is finished, each mission is completely programmed but still during testing stage. Many errors are being corrected.
The update system is also under development and we are using the same previously presented version and will be released at the same time with Byzen. The user will be able to download the whole game and to keep it updated just by downloading one executable file as soon as we publish any news or updates.
Byzen is under revision 6, version 0.1. When we move to revision 7 the new update will be ready and we will be able to go on correcting normal errors.
Byzen’s future and its releasing date:
We don’t really enjoy discussing this point, since speculation has been our big failure. Still, we are going to let you know part of the situation to make some points clear:
We must remember Byzen is an official game for CODICEN and that we are completely being supported by them. However, CODICEN not only supports us, but also wants to acquire the game’s license in order to distribute it all over the computers which are given by the Uruguayan state to the students and also to upload it so that anybody con play it for free. Due to this fact the price of the license is under negotiation and that an evaluation committee enters in scene in order to give a suitable price to the license.
This means there is some time destined to negotiation and legal proceedings which are hopefully finishing and we are surely giving you good news in no time.
Well, the releasing date, based on what we have just commented will be on the 19th December 2014 but only if we get to an agreement with CODICEN, otherwise we will be releasing it on the 28th February 2015. According to the negotiation’s development, BYZEN WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE 28/02/2014
During this year 5 more people have been incorporated to the team:
