Nature is brutal, but can you survive the Brutal Nature of man?

Home How to play Features Modding FAQ The Future of Brutal Nature

Brutal nature is a multiplayer survival game with voxel based terrain to mine for resources, destroy with weapons and place to form structures. Featuring realistic natural environments and rich engaging combat, it blends PVP and PVE game play with resource gathering and detailed but easy to use crafting. For a list of currently supported features check out our information page.

The Landscape is a smooth voxel terrain that you can mine for resources, make caves, destroy with weapons, blow up with explosives and place to build structures up to thousands of feet in any direction. Build towers miles tall and mine far into the depths of the earth with our easy to use terrain editing controls.

Realism will be strived for but not allowed to stand in the way of fun. Game play will be tunable from highly realistic to arcade style fun by an easy to use modding system.

Inspired by Fallout, Terraria and Dwarf Fortress, We wish to bring you a game with complex depth and exciting combat in a modern age realistic world. We heavily support modding and have made the game exceptionally easy to mod. All vanilla content is essentially a mod that can be removed, edited or replaced.

Featuring a rich but easy to use crafting system with over 900 recipes you can craft just about anything in the game from ammo to any of the 80 weapons!

Brutal Nature is currently free to play while in alpha but development is supported entirely by pre-orders, So pre-order your copy today!

I only watched the trailer, but I'm looking for a "realistic" survival game where you can't easily get your hands on a weapon that obliviates literally every creature you encounter. It destroys a major part of the survival aspect in the game and previous developers who've tried their luck at this clay genre, who also seemed to think that zombies are a necessity, all failed at this horribly.

Is it difficult to obtain/craft and a gun and ammo in this game? Everything else looks really good from what I've seen in the trailer, but I'm not looking for yet another game where you don't have to worry about even the most dangerous of creatures after an hour of gameplay.

You start off with a pistol, knife and grapple pistol. All can be easily modded out with just a text editor. there are very scarce chests that contain ammo, but they can be reduced/removed/edited.

other then that, crafting melee and ranged weapons takes quite some time and a lot of resources. making ammo requires medium level crafting before you can make it and requires a half dozen ingredients.

The better weapons that are pretty much needed to defeat the new spider NPC in the caves can only be crafted and take quite a few hours before you can build one.

Also, there will be no zombies.

Oh, I forgot to mention that killing NPC's results in increased NPC aggression range for all NPC's of that type, resetting when you die. So the better you are at killing NPC's the harder the NPC's become as more and more attack you.

Sounds great. I'll need to check the game out for myself in order to get a grasp of the NPC system but at the very least it sounds much better than an easy farmfest. As long as encountering an NPC can make me run for my life I'm intrigued :p

Are different types of NPCs hostile towards each other?

No they are not hostile towards each other but I have considered adding it. NPC infighting is so fun to watch.

Its saved when you exit the game in single player, or when you close the server in multiplayer, as well as every half hour.

You have to run the server.exe manually to start a server that other people can join, then login via username/pass and select the server from the server list.

Ok is it a must to port forward? I can see a "Public Server" in the server list even if i'm not running my server, But I can't join it either ways.

I want to create a local server like listen servers, I dont want everbody to join.

You need port 1234 open and forwarded (UDP) to run a public server.

If you just click single player, it will run a local server that other people can't join.
Its best to name your server something unique. those are likely other peoples servers. The announce server tries to screen out servers that can't be connected to but it is not always successful.

this game has brought me such joy as ive let my imagination run rampant; building primal homes, hunting to survive, friendship in fellow players and the craziest, in depth crafting system ive ever seen. all kinds of gun catagories, matching ammunition u build from scratch and armor ranging from light leather to ceramic. the user friendly and incredibly simple gameplay leads to great rewards. this game being in its early stages has me chomping at the bit wondering what the future has in store.
