I just bought and downloaded this game around an hour ago and
installed it, but whenever I start it up, the process in joblist runs
for around 5-10 seconds and then it gives the classical "Bloody Trapland
has stopped working."
It's annoying since I just used money on buying this game, and I
really looked forward to play it. I'm playing on the stand alone
version, a website where you could test if your game could run it, gave
me green lights.
I'm running on Windows 7.
I tried running as Adminstrator and with several compatability modes.

Hi Felioves.
Thanks for posting this in the forum too, makes it easier for others with the same issues to find it as well.
the most common reason for this is lack of XNA 4.0, or a corrupt .Net 4.0 install.

Try installing/reparing theese:
XNA 4.0 Redist
.Net 4.0 Framework

Great! I installed XNA 4.0, and it started up perfectly! Thanks alot!

The only problem occuring now is that I see no servers at all? Do you have an idea on why this is?

Also, I hope you don't mind me asking, I am looking into coding myself, and am currently looking at some C++, aswell as I have tried a little modelling (Very minor.)

But heres the question, what language did you code this game with, and using what methods? Did you code the entire game from scratch? Or did you code a software, where of you then started creating the actual game, using that software. A game engine, I guess you could call it?

Nice, good to hear! :)
The game is still quite unheard of to the public, so there isn't always public servers online. But the player amount keeps raising with each day so I think that's about to change very soon. Also, many players choose to host private servers using hamachi, theses doesn't show up in the lobby. (currently there are 5 such servers up that I can see).

Sure, I don't mind!
I mostly create games using C# and XNA (Create.msdn.com have many good tutorials). We at 2Play Studios have built our own engine \w editor, called Aftershock. It's built from scratch in C#, Bloody Trapland just being the first game that's been official released with it. The plan is also to release our editor in the future so people may build there own levels.
Keep up the coding, and never give up.. It only gets better!

Ah I see, that explains alot. Thanks!

I see, do you think C++ is sufficient and efficient enough for that sake of matter, for creating games? I know I shouldn't start head on at creating a Battlefield 4, but start out small, trying my way with maybe Pong or alike, and then advancing.
And thanks for the link! I just hope my Dyscalculia won't get too much in the way of my learning curve, it has so far proven quite an obstacle.

Great work you have done at 2Play studios. Clap your devs on the shoulders, including yourself :)

Damn! Another crash is now occuring.
-
When I start up the game, nothing happens for around 4 seconds, then the intro sound comes. That glitter sound, 8 bit sound kind of. Hard to explain, but I'm sure you catch me.

Nothing is on the screen still, it's still my desktop being displayed. Then a crash report pops up, with a text box for me to write in.

If I click ANYTHING outside this box, it's like the computer finally skips into the game, except it's frozen, and is then just a black screen.

Any suggestions? :)

C++ is great for making games, it's considered the fastest and most stable if used right. But it's also a bit more difficult than others. So I would probably not start with it if you want to get results fast.

Not completely sure, think I found your crashreport though, iam currently checking it out.. Does it happen everytime you start?

I see, what would you reccomend to someone who is self educating on programming languages? Not something that would be completely useless, something you can still use for making at leas something, simple software that can do a specific task? Thanks alot for the Q&A session we are having here by the way, it's really helpful!

I didn't even send the report since I was already talking to you here. But yes, it happens everytime. I started it up 4 times in a row, happened every time.

I would recommend C#, it's good for all sorts of things, including games. And Microsoft has made it easy for you to deploy games to PC, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 with XNA. Also, there are a lot of good tutorials to find with XNA :)

Ohh, ok. Could you please send a report, and comment with your name or something so I know that it's yours. It gives me the more precise error message,

Nevermind! I somehow managed to fix it, I hope it's permanent. I have to say the technical support supplied by 2Play studios is quite amazing. Thanks god that I didn't just get some automated message if I had plugged in the power cord right :D

I see, I will look into it. I just looked at Java aswell, which also looks like it could be quite useful, and easy to learn! Thanks for the tips!

Great to hear! If you don't mind, please tell us what you did as it migh help others stuck with the same issue :)

Yeah, java is awsome aswell, it's a good starting language

I just did a clean install. No idea what caused it though!

Alright, I'll have a look at java first then. Thanks for the advice
