Multiplayer- awesome! The only thing that concerns me is having ships slowly blown apart, as I assume that individual blocks/parts will take damage. So eventually you would be respawning in broken, half built ships, right? Or will the ship respawn as well?

We're thinking of an EVE: Online style where you'll be able to insure yourship, and otherwise need to return the ship to a port for it to be preserved.

It depends on what's more fun though. Remember that the goal for the game is more cooperative ala Borderlands/Diablo (with competitive gameplay possible independently), and so an instantaneous log-off with your currently claimed ship might be less troublesome for the players in the end.
