Bleak Fortress is a retro futuristic 2D stealth platformer game that mix ideas from other games such Metal Gear Solid, Metroid and Blackthorn (An old Blizzard Entertainment retro game).

You are in 2088, aboard on a ship called "Density" you and your crew has crashed on an uncharted ice planet. You wake up in a dark and strange place. It look like you have been captured and imprisoned in a very deep fortress out of nowhere. You must find what happened to your crew and find a way to leave this place.

Planned game features

  • Cross-platform: Win32, MacOS, Linux.
  • Available in both languages at launch: French and English. (More can be supported if needed but will require translation)
  • Amazing in-game sound ambiance.
  • Game pad and keyboard support.
  • Intriguing story.
  • Simple inventory management.
  • Explore a huge and deep hi-security underground fortress.
  • Non-linear progression with mission objectives.
  • Try many different approaches to complete your objectives.
  • Unique objects and weapons to find in order to progress in the game.
  • Hide yourself in deeper areas to avoid conflicts or enemy fire.

Hi Indurok,

Sorry for the delay on responding to your message and thanks you for trying Bleak Fortress. Just remember that this is a very early technical preview. I understand right now its a bit frustrating to play because obviously the first area aren't easy to go through because there is no save function at all. The save function will be added for sure in 0.2. The idea with 0.1 was to show the kind of game we was making so poeple would have an idea of the general ambiance of the game. In 0.2, expect to see the amazing and needed save function, ennemies and combat, game menu and a second area fellowing the first one. We may also add a new custom input customization system which are in the work right now to replace the current one. Also the current area will be improved based on feedbacks. If you have more ideas just share them with us.

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your interest. The game is not linear which mean its an open world kind of game. Its the same kind of world than metroid. Sure, he is held in a fortress but the fortress is very complex and there is a tons of path. You will also surely revisit levels in order to take a different path. Only the tutorial zone is more linear but this is a seperate scenario from the main scenario which happen months before the actual events in the game.
