This for some reason reminds of Severance: Blade of Darknes. :/

Between this, overgrowth, and chivalry, button mashing melee is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I hope Bethesda is watching.

It won't.

Consoles my friend. Advanced melee combat does not work well on consoles, plus, you have to think more than "Press A for awesome!"

No console user is looking for satisfying gameplay elements. Which is really sad, back in the days, PC & Console both offered challenging, but different experiences, hence it was not odd to have both.

These days though...Consoles...most of it is either CoD, or Recycled older generation games that haven't evolved.

That only applies to shooters. Melee combat and platforming has always been dominated by consoles. Always. Grabbed by the ghoulies/ that one Jet Li game are perfect examples of a non-button mashing cerebral hand to hand combat system. They've never been matched, on PCs or otherwise. You can't throw the little boxes under the train for every little thing dude.

I have found some very awesome games for modern consoles. Prototype is one, you may have heard of it. Dead Space, Mass Effect (Haven't played it though.) Dante's Inferno (Though I admit it is based off of a book.) Homefront was sadly "Just another Shooter" but the storyline was fairly interesting and the graphics were more or less stunning. All of these games I mentioned are also fairly hard, even on the easiest setting. (Other then Mass Effect which I haven't played yet so wouldn't know.)

hmm yes. But luckily there Elder Scroll games which thankfully you can up the difficulty on with the slider, or with mods. Yes modding is one of the saving graces of PC games in this generation.
