Blackout Nightmare (title might not be final) is a game that is currently being developed. The game is of the Survival Horror genre where the player has scarce resources and items needed to survive throughout the game. The game is heavily inspired by the Resident Evil (the old ones) and Silent Hill franchises, although the entire game will be Top-Down and 2D. Story (WORK IN PROGRESS): The game takes place in an old mansion which was acquired by the parents of the main character. They've been through the house and started to unload their furnishings, though they haven't been properly settled. All seemed well during their stay. The main character decides to visit the house, though incidentally he ended up getting there at night. Unlucky for him, it was a thunderstorm that surrounded the area. Lightning strikes the house, which causes electrical problems with the house, leading to a total blackout throughout the mansion.

What is Blackout Nightmare?

News

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my page. This game is far from finished, I admit. I've gotten the bare-bones of the game working now and all I have to do is work on new sprites and the whole map. It will probably take a while for a one man team, since I work on the sprites, codes and the story, but I plan on getting it finished by November this year.

The game is basically a Survival Horror where the player is exploring a mansion with a mysterious history. Throughout the game you will find some journals and notes that tell you about what happened in the mansion. It's like the most of the usual horror games where it is very story driven.

The gameplay mechanics are simple. You have an inventory with 10 spaces for items, and there are monsters all over the house which you beat by using a flash bulb. The flash bulb is pretty much a weapon with an area of effect, so when you use it, it will damage any enemy, at a certain distance, around you. The flash bulb has to be charged and when it hits the maximum on the gauge it will automatically flash, so you have to time it right. It also runs on batteries, so you have to scrounge some of those in the mansion.

I've been working on the mansion's front yard. Here is what it looks like so far:
The Mansion's Front yard.

Thanks for reading! I'll be posting a video about the gameplay mechanics. Follow the page for any future updates. I plan on making updates at least once a week.
