No, those aren't claws. That's the armature (bones/rig) for the animations.

Yea, this is 3ds max. The only problem is getting this model with the animations into the game. I haven't found a way yet.. :/
theres an MD2 exporter which is very good.
Scatter said that he diddnt know how the MD2 exporter would flip and turn the model, so i suppose hes sticking with the MDL format
