About Forgotten Hope 2 with 8 comments by Eat_Uranium on Jul 22nd, 2014

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

Today we have yet another render of a Soviet aircraft. This time, we will be showing you the Lavochkin La-5FN fighter.

La-5FN La-5FN

The Lavochkin-Gorbunov-Gudkov LaGG-1 was a 1938 design for a lightweight fighter built from laminated wood. The design was promising, and Soviet aircraft losses in the Winter War led to it being placed into production. In the field, it was found to be underpowered, and improvements led to the LaGG-3. While this was a better aircraft, it still had many problems and was not liked. Eventually, factories were switched to production of the rival Yak-1 and Yak-7.

The La-5 began life as an unofficial experiment to mount the powerful radial ASh-82 engine onto the LaGG-3, using the nose section on the Su-2. The prototype flew in March 1942, and was found superior to the Yak-7. Stalin ordered the La-5 into production in July.

The La-5FN was a further refinement of the design, and while it suffered at high altitudes, in the more common low altitude combat on the Eastern Front, it proved a worthy match to the Luftwaffe's fighters. 9,920 La-5 of all types were produced, and ours was made by Kraetzer, with a cockpit by Fred.

Our winners for this week's screenshot competition is Laboraffe. You can view the winning submission here.

We are now accepting entries for the week of July 21st. If you think you have the best FH2 screenshot, post them here.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel, our public forums, and/or our Twitter and Facebook pages to discuss this update and other news.

Ok i gotta ask everyone here. I've been playing bf2 for years and its getting frigging annoying more and more using custom maps in SP the map randomly crashes to the desktop without any notice or windows of explanation. Randomly in the middle of a map and without warning. I have no clue what the cause is and the frustration of it all makes me want to throw my pc out of the window. If someone can shed some light on this for me i'd appreciate it a lot.

Use BF2_r.exe and activate ignoreasserts, if your using any OS above Windows XP use Windows XP compatibility mode. You might be required to run as administrator.

Note: Some features that are not functioning in 1.5 will work in the debugger (BF2_r). Also you might get some errors you're not used to (like mathematical errors).

I'll the the debugger version but what i typically play with is the botchanger 2.1 program. I have all the mods i play set to 64 bots and usually the threat level to 1.0. I also copy n paste maps that i dl into the level folders of those mods. I am careful not to do that on mods that i know are very specific about the maps they use but is any of this a cause for the random crashes too? Thank you for your timely response btw.

Maps still randomly crash to the desktop. Sometimes they play all the way through other times no. Checked logs but the folder was empty. I find it hard to believe that i am the only person who experiences this. I play strictly SP only. I use botchanger 2.1 to bring the bots to 64 and a trainer to keep the tickets up so as to extend the length of the map. Are any of those possible cause to random crashing? I can't stress the frustration level that comes when the game exits to windows mid play with no explanation whatsoever.
