Battle Cry of Freedom, brings brutal real-time first and third person combat set in the 19th Century America, presenting players with the opportunity to re-fight the American Civil War as either the Union or the Confederates. It features a wide range of Troop Types, ranging from the common soldiers to musicians and artillery, all with their own purpose and tasks.

Welcome back to our Developer Blogs! It has been quite a while since our last update and you have probably been wondering what we have been up to. We felt it was best to keep things a bit silent while we created much of the content as we it was not yet ready to be put together.

Development has its ups and downs and we experienced plenty of both. The reasons why it took longer than we first had expected are several, but the primary ones are moving to a new engine version and having to redo our network engine from the ground up. These have been very time consuming, but in the end it has been worth it, as we will be able to provide you with a better experience with all the awesome features we have planned, including those enormous multiplayer battles.

We have now reached a stage where we are happy with how things are going and we are able to start putting everything together. As such we have decided that it is finally time to host the BCoF Alpha!

That’s right! Alpha is coming in December, stay tuned!

Thanks for reading.

Really looking forward to this, questioning the choice of Unity as an engine, not that I have an extensive background in using it but I thought the engines ability to rend distances was rather limited. Judging from the screenshots I am probably wrong, just wondering though.

Yes, Unity is a really good Engine, especially since Unity 4 released a few weeks ago.

Ofc, you can not compare it to Cryengine or Frostbite, but it is a stable Engine, it is cheap, has a great Community and most import for us, Its Network implementation is great.
