Using the Lord Of The Rings movie license, The Battle for Middle-earth is a Real-Time Strategy game based upon both the renown literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and the film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. Players are given control of enormous armies in the many of the epic battles depicted in the film. From waging all-out combat among the vast forces of good and evil to controlling your favorite heroes and characters to managing the troops.

Return of Shadow

Return of Shadow Beta 0.22 Out Now

Requires Beta 0.2.

If you installed Beta 0.2 original version or the torrent version you'll need to use the Beta tool before installing this version.
It can be found here.

After months of work Beta 0.22 is finally released.
The good campaign is playable for the first time with 2 new maps included in the campaign.

Good Campaign

A lot of work has been put into the Good Campaign fixing bugs, updating the maps and units and implementing new maps and features.
For the first time ever battle the Dunlendings in the campaign and drive them out of the Adorn.
Fight back the Isengard forces on Dol Baran in the 2 new campaign maps.
Recruit new units in Ithilien and prepare for the siege of Minas Tirith.

Fight the Haradrim and Easterlings and defend Gondor, fight alongside Forlong and Prince Imrahil during the siege of Minas Tirith.
Recruit campaign exclusive units in Ithilien.

New Maps

Play on the new maps included in Beta 0.22

New versions of maps have been included such as a new version of Adorn called Adorn dry, a Winter version of Mountains of Angmar.

New maps like Glanduin by Bashkuga (one of my favourite maps), North Dunland and more.

Forlong arrives

Gondor prepares for the siege

It was announced on July 25 that there will be a new installment from EA in the BFME series. It adds two new factions: Elves and Dwarves, and adds battles that were never seen in the movies, but are inspired by the books. I'M SO PUMPED!!

Chack out for more details!

Anyone able to do a Camera Mod for this?

I would like to be able to zoom out a bit farther than the game allows by default. It feels a bit cramped as it stands.

Haha. That would be an interesting sight to behold! Sounds like another Command and Conquer esque alternate reality.
