Another realistic, 3D war simulation from the developers of well-rated Operation: Flashpoint. Unlike OP:F, Armed Assault will feature not only open-air, massive area firefights, but also tactical operations in various cities, and other urbanized areas. The game is created mostly for the multiplayer mode, but there'll be a big campaign for singleplayer, too (developers stated that the NPC's will have very high AI, their behaviors will include not only shooting and chasing, but also, for example, setting traps).

Armed Assault will focus on team-work, in similar style that Battlefield 2 does. It is supposed to be very tactical, victory will require cooperation and usage of various equipment and vechicles. The weaponry will include submachineguns and rifles (MP5, M4, AK-47), shotguns (SPAS), sniper arms (M82A1, Dragunov, Steyr), and probably other heavy weapons like rocket launchers, and stationary MGs.

A small US Army contingent has been sent to the Atlantic island of Sahrani with the purpose of helping to train the army of the local pro-American monarchy. The Kingdom of South Sahrani, rich in natural resources, has always been at odds with its Northern neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Sahrani. In recent years however, the situation has settled into an uneasy yet peaceful coexistence.

But the Democratic Republic of Sahrani sees the training of Southern troops by the US as a threat. When they learn that the US troops have finished their deployment and are in the process of shipping out, the North prepares to strike while a false sense of security still occupies the minds of their Southern neighbors.

Virtual Battlespace 2 is a high-end Military Simulator that costs $$$$. Only way to play that is to pirate it or actually waste your money on something that you won't use in real life unless WW3 breaks out and you need to form your own military to survive or something. For gamers that like military simulators Arma does it pretty good. There are glitches in the game that will drive you away from the game but after awhile you get use to not hitting those keys to fall into that glitch lol. Hopefully they will have another patch.... Hopefully...

To compare it to BF2 this is what it should have been based on there faulty advertisement of "realistic military game" .. In BF2 Maps are to small to really get going in a Jet... Arma FIXES THAT! With having the map 250 Square Miles... Choose from plenty of guns and vehicles. Map will turn day to night, night to day with weather effects. If you want "realistic" this game gets pretty close to it with out it being boring like a full on Military simulators. It is a Game.

One note that plenty of players complain about is that Ai can snipe you a mile away and tends to be WTF! Type of situations but this is a team/squad based game so you can go Rambo but you'll have plenty of deaths if you do so. Bullets are true to nature.. They fall... So you will have to adjust aim in order for the bullet falloff to hit.

Buildings blow up, Helicopters slam into cities blowing up a small block, arty (not annoying and requires skill and a spotter) reaches the other side of the map, Vehicles slide, explosions have multiplying effects if fueled by other explosions or elements.

Also a built in Mission editor to make your own missions and host them so that no server is like the other... Plus broadcast your Clan/Team logo on vehicles and your right arm to show who you fight for.

Plus satchels that you can set onto a 30 Sec timer or touch up to 8? Packs to create a huge explosion...

With all that good stuff... THERE GLITCHES THAT WILL MAKE YOU SLAM YOUR KEYBOARD!

Release date in hte Czech Republic appears to have been confirmed as November 10th, 2006. Hopefully a global release isn't too far off.

And you don't have to worry about BIS using too many ideas from BF2, I don't think.

No, the game hasn't been released yet. They don't have a global publisher yet, only two that will be publishing the game in Poland and Germany.

The game will probably be released around Q4 2006, or early 2007 - if they find a publisher.
